Trump has had an army of lawyers suing people and/or defending him from criminal charges. Even with the DOJ now being treated as part of his legal team he still needs lots of private lawyers. Lawyers, even second-rate ones that make up the bulk of Trump’s private legal legion expect to get paid but Trump has lost his ability to do so with other people’s money. His legal slush fund/PAC is underwater just like his approval ratings. I’m pretty sure all those private Trump lawyers don’t accept Trump Bucks as payment!
Lawyers don’t work for free. Even sleazy dirtbag ones. Trump was famous long ago for stiffing even his lawyers but when he was just another high-end real estate dude in New York many a lawyer got played – as in not getting their money/getting stiffed like any other person Trump contracted for services with. However he’s been in the glare of Presidential politics for over ten years now. If not in the news, at least in legal circles word will spread that Trump is bailing on his legal fees because the source of the money he used to pay them has dried up. As Raw Story reports, the fund Trump has used to pay lots of millions of legal fees is ‘running low on cash.’ Actually it’s in the red and an awful lot of Trump lawyers are awfully unhappy these days:

Prior to his second term and his breathtaking grifting, his using his office to personally enrich himself Trump probably had cash flow problems that left him with no choice but to route all those PAC donations from idiot MAGAs to legal/lawyer fees. No doubt part of him was pissed as he (like other politicians) had every intention of one day taking the easy but legal sleazy steps (literally a couple of one page forms) to close out the PAC(s) and route the money to an account after which no more questions would be or could be asked. In other words politicians can then transfer the money to whatever personal account they want. At the same time Trump likely enjoyed the hell out of his idiot MAGAs forking over their hard earned dollars to pay HIS bills.
His problem now is that that years long steady flow of donations has dried up:
According to recent Federal Election Commission filings, the funding stream Trump has been using to pay out millions to law firms is running “very, very low on cash,” Hayes is reporting.
The numbers tell a story of financial collapse, the report notes. Save America PAC has only $1.19 million in cash on hand while owing $1.6 million in unpaid legal bills. That debt exists even after the committee has already spent nearly $2.3 million on legal fees so far this year. Make America Great Again PAC is in even worse shape: only $28,087 in cash against $763,000 in debts.
Raw Story’s article says Trump has shelled out a good $50 million in legal fees in 2023 alone. Personally I think we’ll learn the amount is much higher. The point is that Trump sues at the drop of a MAGA hat. Some, not most but some of his lawyers have been not just competent but good but regardless of quality lawyers don’t ‘lawyer’ if they don’t get paid. Too few of them have demanded hefty upfront retainers, or kept working after their billable hours used up said retainers. If they didn’t demand a new one I have no more sympathy for them than the idiots who believed his promises he’d pay them – say “In two weeks!”
Think about it. It’s one of the few joys Trump can get out of his miserable, despicable life. Playing people with advanced degrees as SUCKERS. And literally not having it cost him a thing. When they sue him to get their money he’ll find other sucker lawyers who will believe his empty promise of getting paid to defend him!
Many assume he’ll somehow convince his MAGAs to start sending in gobs of money again. The thing is, like the rest of us their cost of living is going up too. Add in that Trump has broken not one but TWO major promises he made to them – releasing the Epstein Files and no more U.S. involvement in foreign wars. I doubt as they scramble to get from paycheck to paycheck (or govt. check to govt. check) they will choose to cut back on cutbacks they’ve already had to make to send him more of their money.
Trump COULD as I said go ahead and pay his lawyers out of his own pocket these days. Just kidding folks! Trump would sell Melania, Tiffany and even his onetime obsession Wannabe Princess Ivanka to middle eastern dictators as sex slaves rather than pay his lawyers with HIS money.
My takeway after laughing my butt off over Trump’s PAC being unable to pay his lawyers is that there might be some real, and troublesome news for Trump here. Yes, the money has been going out, but until relatively recently there was more than enough coming in. That’s no longer true. That means the daily fundraising pitches Trump has been making to MAGA aren’t getting the results they used to. His ‘Their attacks on me are actually an attack on YOU’ schtick isn’t working like it used to. Either that or MAGAs simply can’t come up with extra money to send to him. Or a combination of both.
Regardless it suggests there might be more cracks in the MAGA wall that we’ve realized. It’s worth keeping an eye on this.

I think it’s possible that after seeing his lies about Epstein, the economy, foreign wars, they may be questioning what else he’s been lying about. Just maybe, since all the recent things they could see with their eyes and budgets, as opposed to things that Fox and others could do counter-programming about.
Polling suggests to me they aren’t actually turning on him in significant numbers but yes, their faith is shaken. Enough doubt they’ve become hesitant to send him money. With their MAGA pals they can all tell each other their turd god emperor is still great but golly gee things are just too tight right now to send in donations. In other words it’s a weaking of support but one which will hit Trump in a sensitive spot and make him worry. He’s a cheap ass bastard (always has been) and has been living for over ten years with Taxpayers and MAGAs paying the tab for his lavish life. MAGA isn’t holding up its part of that anymore which both pisses him off and scares him.
