It’s well-known that Trump is surrounded by sycophants who debase themselves stroking his ego and shielding him from bad news. They weren’t able to do so with his ballroom project. Still, it’s not the only tacky-assed project he’s eager to inflict on our nation’s Capitol.  The dumbass ‘Arch de Trump’ is another pet project, second only to his ballroom. WE know there’s a lawsuit trying to stop it and perhaps Trump knew about it. What he clearly did NOT know is it’s being driven by a group of Veterans!  He couldn’t believe it when a reporter asked him about it on camera.

Keeping Trump in his cocoon of ‘Everyone thinks I’m perfect and they think everything I do is great” is well known to be the proverbial Prime Directive amongst those around Trump. It’s not like kissing the boss’ ass is unique to Trump and even other Presidents. CEO’s and top politicians who make sure their staff knows there will be hell to pay for NOT keeping them informed even about bad stuff is all too rare. For someone as pathologically narcissistic as Trump giving him bad news is what his minions fear most.

It’s a lot easier just to tell him what he wants to hear and prevent him from learning things that will upset him.  That of course comes with some awful consequences. I even wrote yesterday about Hegseth (and let’s face it, Netanyahu too) sweet-talking Trump using MIS-information to get him to start his stupid war with Iraq. Tell Trump what he wants to hear is the operational mindset of those around him. As you know they couldn’t stop Trump from learning the lawsuit blocking (for now) work on his tacky-assed ballroom.

Of course the ballroom is only one part of Trump’s vision to junk Pierre LeEnfant’s DC for into a (Capitol) city version of Mar A Lago. Like I said, since the ballroom project is literally right there, an ugly looking spot as any large construction project stopped after demolition but before actual building begins. A big, ugly expanse of dirt.  It has to really gall Trump and call me mean but I enjoy thinking of his outrage.  He of course consoles himself with other projects.  Second (and not by much) is the HUGE, tacky-assed arch we wants to build.  Two-hundred fifty feet tall in fact. (He will of course eventually want his name slapped on it!) Even worse is where he’s planning to have this monstrosity erected.

Naturally there are those who don’t want this thing to be built.  Not even if as Trump claims it would be built with privately raised money. FYI that promise like every other has already been broken as $15 million of taxpayer money has gone into it.  The only way to stop this project is via the courts. Even in his clearly diminished mental capacity Trump probably figured someone would sue to block his precious arch. But, he assumed any such lawsuit would be a “joke” filed by “losers” and get tossed out of court.  He was wrong.

Better yet, he was quite literally surprised to learn who’s fronting the most significant lawsuit to stop his arch.  As reported by The Atlanta Black Star Trump’s fluffers seem to have done a pretty good job of shielding him from the news there was a lawsuit trying to stop construction of his arch. Even if not completely successful they at least made him think it was nothing to worry about so he didn’t. Oops.  When directly confronted Trump at least made it seem like yes, he kinda sorta knew somebody might have sued but couldn’t believe who it turned out to be:

The latter structure is the basis of a recently filed lawsuit by Vietnam War veterans and an architectural historian. Trump appeared to have no knowledge of the matter while taking questions from reporters during the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll on April 6.

A member of the media asked Trump, “There’s a significant legal challenge to your arc. Do you think you can get that built or at least start building before you leave office?” The 79-year-old abruptly interjected, “Who’s doing the legal challenge?”

The journalist informed him that the filing was led by veterans who argue the arch would “obstruct the view shared between Arlington [National Cemetery] and the [Lincoln] memorial,” which seemed to surprise the president.

“A group of veterans?” he repeated, almost as if it were a joke. “You gotta be kidding. This was approved 100 years ago. Do you know that? Never got built. It was stopped by a thing called the Civil War.”

Well, for starters his timeline is off. The Civil War was a hundred-FIFTY years ago. If there was any plan, much less a project approved to build some arch I never learned anything about it.  Lincoln’s predecessor made a big deal out of showing off what he considered his own main architectural contribution, a “proper barn” for the White House. Hell, the freaking Washington Monument hadn’t been completed.  It took over a dozen years between it being conceived and approved before construction began with the laying of the cornerstone in 1848. Even before the war they ran out of money.  And the whole project was simply set aside indefinitely due to the Civil War. It wasn’t until 1876 and Congress appropriating $2 million things got moving again.  It took until 1880 for work on the foundation (to strengthen it for a taller monument) began. A second cornerstone was laid at the one-hundred-fifty feet height. Several more phases of construction took place before work was completed.

This delay in construction I might add is why the stone shows two distinct shades of white stone, something Trump has surely noticed like anyone else. Perhaps his addled mind flashed to Washington’s monument getting delayed and conflated it with some arch that was built back when LeEnfant drew up designs for our Capitol city. Anyway the Washington Monument is the tallest structure in DC. Not the tallest habitable building but at 555 feet the tallest structure. It’s elegant in design. Trump no doubt would rather knock it down and replace it with an even taller arch. Or better still build a HUGE arch over where the Washington Monument sits.  For now he’s settling for a gaudy 250 foot structure to be placed in Memorial Circle.

For those who don’t know this small circle is just past the west end of Memorial Bridge. The Lincoln Memorial sits at the east end. Arlington National Cemetery’s main entrance is just west of Memorial Circle. Trump’s arch would, if put up block the view of the Lincoln Memorial, the Mall and the Washington Monument from even the highest spot (the mansion traitor Robert E Lee called home) in Arlington Cemetery!  That of course is the point. Overshadow our nation’s most hallowed burial site AND monuments to two of our greatest and most beloved Presidents.  OF COURSE there would be lawsuits to block this from happening!

I find it funny as hell that one that’s getting traction is from Vietnam Veteran’s. It’s not only are they pissed about Trump’s attempt to overshadow Arlington National Cemetery and block people on the east side of the Potomac from being able to see it.  Trump is after all Cadet Bone Spurs who famously refused to enter military service, much less be sent to Vietnam!  They aren’t the only Veterans who object to this Trump vanity project.  Trump of course think all the military just loves him to pieces and that’s why his reaction of “You’ve got to be kidding me” when told it was a Veterans group suing to stop his arch startled him:

No Trump, you cowardly draft-dodging asshat/asswipe.  Expect other Veteran’s groups to join in.  I just hope that this keeps getting thrown in Trump’s ugly orange painted face over and over. Journalists with the guts to question him to his face should have a copy of the latest iteration of the lawsuit with them. When tries his ‘Fake News’ bullshit hold up a copy with the front page and the heading – the part naming the Veteran’s group vs. Donald J. Trump highlighted and offer to give it to him.  While they’re at it they should imitate Trump’s “Human Printer”, a gal who stays close to him each day searching for news stories flattering him and printing them out from a portable printer rigged on a special belt around her waist.  I say pass out stories about this lawsuit to other journalist in the gaggle or even in the WH Press Briefing Room.

Rub his face in it so hard the orange paint comes off! At least, as the linked article indicates there’s reaction online:

Trump’s brash reaction, almost certainly implying that the defendants are a non-factor, wasn’t a surprise but stood out as yet another indication of Trump’s lack of compassion and consideration for others, especially those who perished serving the country.

An X user quipped, “Eye-roll at the word ‘veterans’ while sending troops to their death? Nice. The man is truly deranged.” Trump has the U.S. engulfed in a war with Iran, which to date has resulted in double-digit deaths of American soldiers in a little over a month.

One viewer remarked, “He literally cannot comprehend that someone else’s perspective could ever be relevant. Nothing—NOTHING—is sacred if it stands in the way of him getting what he wants.”

Someone else wrote, “The reporters just needs to keep telling him this stuff. Bc it’s painfully obvious his inner circle is telling him only what he wants to hear.” A similar response theorized that “he is being lied to and kept from the truth. He will be the fall guy. He is almost 80.”

The article makes a point of noting that on Xitter a user commented about him exhibiting something rare – self control. They commented, “He wants to call them suckers & losers so bad.”

Well, I always enjoy the equivalent of Trump getting slapped in the face with a dead fish and I figure y’all would too.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
