Okay, now, this says a lot about the mess at DHS. Employees were going to extremes to protect themselves from snooping. It’s really sad to hear about something like this. And it says even more about Krispi and Corey. When you can’t trust the boss … well then. They did what they felt they had to. Yikes. My regards to The Daily Beast via, and to Raw Story:
The environment inside the Department of Homeland Security under former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski, chief adviser and long-rumored lover, was apparently so hostile that staffers had to take extreme measures, according to reports on Monday. Top ICE staffers apparently tried to block the duo from alleged spying concerns by using sound machines to block recordings because they worried that they were under surveillance, The Daily Beast reported. An experienced employee described the “distrust, abuse, and corruption” within the agency under Noem’s leadership as the “most toxic” they have ever seen.
OUCH. The most toxic? That’s disturbing. And it fits right in with what we know about Krispi and Corey. But for employees to go to that extreme does not bode well. We don’t yet know how Markwayne is going to do. He could be worse, better, or the same. It would be good if he listened to the experience in DHS, but I’m not holding my breath. You might be the same. By the way, white noise machines are actually very helpful. I know because I have one. By blocking (most) outside sounds, it’s much easier to concentrate. Seriously!
In a Washington Examiner investigation published last week, three people revealed U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner Rodney Scott was apparently so concerned that Noem and Lewandowski were eavesdropping that he carried his phone in a Faraday bag, which is made of aluminum or silver to block electromagnetic signals and shield cell phones from surveillance or interception. Scott has claimed the pair had conducted an “evil” effort to remove him from his role, and he was “paranoid” that Noem’s chief adviser was “spying on him through his work phone and had bugged his office.”
That might be considered extreme. But if Mr. Scott was *that* concerned, there may actually have been a legitimate reason to do so. Considering the Terrible Two and the way they were just in public, or what came out in the news (remember that plane pilot?), he might not have been far off. Wow. Just … wow.
Scott said he thought Lewandowski was “trying to find anything that could persuade Trump to fire Scott, since Noem lacked the authority to do so herself. That’s what led Scott to make an unusual move. “Rodney had his cell phones in a Faraday bag,” an unnamed source said. “I had never seen that outside of the intel community, where somebody’s putting their phones in a bag so they’re not emanating and can’t be monitored,” according to the source. “I went ahead and put my phone in the bag, and that’s when we had the conversation.”
The source sounds like a whistleblower to me. I don’t know if s/he actually was. But those comments certainly have an ugly sound to them. And it’s an ugly viewpoint on behalf of Krispi and Corey. We knew about the special nonsense on “her” plane. There’s an example of corruption. How much more is there? We can guess there was a *lot* more we don’t know about. There is a certain amount of corruption in any large organization. Considering what we know about that pair, it was probably everywhere. Honestly? They could very well have been spying on their employees. ICK.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
