This is a trip back to the 60’s. The 1860’s, that is, when children were regarded as chattel and beating them was a fairly normal exercise. It’s worth listening to here because it shows you the mentality that Markwayne Mullin is bringing to the Department Of Homeland Security. Oh, well. At least he’s not spending six figures cosplaying, I guess we should be glad for something.
Mullin: “Andrew, boy, that boy didn’t want to ever do anything wrong. And he was the hardest kid ever I had to spank because he was so hard on himself because he would just have this huge crocodile tear running down his eyes.” pic.twitter.com/J0eP2OuhYR

We now have a primitive redneck in charge of Homeland Security. Or, will soon when the Senate is done confirming him.
I suppose people can have different views about corporal punishment but I think having to beg one’s fsther not to deliver a physical blow is pretty far out there. These kids sound traumatized — or is that too woke to say? I personally don’t believe beating a kid does anything other than demoralize the kid. ole Markwayne doesn’t seem too worried about any of that. Makes you wonder how his parents raised him?

well, his brotherfather insisted on naming him markwayne. that must still be traumatic. it must be a family name and i guess his sistermother didn’t care enough to object.
