The ‘not tragic because he deserves scorn’ tale of Donald Trump Junior might be headed for quite an ending. Literally from the time he was born Trump was upset with his oldest child, objecting to naming him Don Jr. “What if he turns out to be a loser?” Donald asked Trophy Wife #1 (Ivana). Well, Trump went to work on Junior and sure enough turned him into a loser. He also turned Junior into a grifter and Fredo 1, aka Don Junior might find himself needing a pardon from his daddy!
When it comes to being a chip off the old block Don Junior is a poster boy, if instead of chip off the block you change it a breakaway piece of a turd. For years after Trump raped his mom Don Junior sided with mom. Then when he was done with school he didn’t want to actually work for a living. His mom has businesses of her own but he would have had to actually work. So he sold out mom and went to work for his P.O.S. dad at the Trump Org. Donald Senior rubbed that betrayal in Ivana’s face of course, but he’s taken even more delight in rubbing his namesake’s face in it.
Still, part of Trump had to feel good his son tried so hard to scam and grift. And both have gotten away with way too much for way too long. Still, the corruption and abuse of power for personal gain by the Trump family in his second term is BREATHTAKING. The thing is, while SCOTUS gave Trump himself a Presidential ‘Call it an official Act’ get out of jail free card it doesn’t extend to Trump’s family. Even if one of them has the exact same name except for “Jr.” instead of “Sr.” at the end.
As this article from Raw Story tells us it sure as hell looks like Junior might have embroiled himself in some serious financial crimes. We’re talking about way more than Martha Stewart went to prison for. There’s plenty to look at from insider trading to influencing contracts and even leveraging another country to pump up the value of the deal! While the linked article starts off talking about MS NOW’s Jenn Psaki making a BFD about Corey Lewandowski’s grift at DHS I found the second part, about Junior’s grifting far more compelling:
Bloomberg also reported on Thursday that President Donald Trump’s son, Don Jr., recently invested in a rare earth minerals company at roughly the same time that the company secured a $620 million federal loan. That investment also happened at a time when the Trump administration is threatening to withhold funding for a critical H.I.V. prevention program in Zambia in exchange for more of the country’s rare earth minerals.
So what do we have? Don Jr. probably glommed onto information that led him to use insider knowledge to make an investment. Knowing how big a contract it started out as AND that daddy’s people were putting the screws to another country to make the deal (and therefore Junior’s investment) jump BIGLY HUGE in value Junior probably threw caution to the wind. It takes serious effort to mask using insider knowledge to cover one’s butt in a deal like this. But it can be done. Smart (sleazy, but smart) investors do it all the time. However sometimes they either get careless or despite their efforts don’t adequately cover their tracks. That makes me ask who here thinks Don Jr. is smart enough and/or wanted to make the effort to cover his tracks?
Think about it from Junior’s point of view. He’s spent his adult life watching his father get away with sh*t. Junior probably figures he can spend a lifetime doing the same, especially given his name. However, while many laws from legal ones to political ones seem to have gone into a suspended state where Trump is concerned other’s who’ve assumed they too can ‘be Trump’ have found out the hard way there’s only one Trump. And it sure as hell ain’t Don Jr. Why I think this deal could one day come back to haunt Junior is the Size of it:
“While the rare earth magnet startup was only valued at about $200 million when Don Jr.’s firm invested in it, today, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that the startup is now valued at nearly $2 billion,” Psaki reported.
The linked article dryly concludes with saying Don Jr. (and Lewandowski) denies any wrongdoing. Sure Junior. You just happen to invest in a company (probably because your dad did via some Trump Org shell company) our government was involved in and putting the screws to a country to ensure success. And then the company suddenly jumps tenfold in value? Nothing of course will happen to Junior, at least not for now. However daddy won’t be President forever nor will the DOJ be daddy’s personal law firm. Wall Street will want to claw back some credibility too and probably will be willing to offer up a few sacrificial lambs. Those folks will in a heartbeat implicate Junior.
That gets us to where things could get fun. Don Junior has tried sooooooo hard to get some love from daddy. And gotten jack. However despite the continual ritual humiliation he keeps trying to win daddy’s public approval if not an ounce of love. He might well find himself willing to settle for a pardon on Trump’s way out the door. The thing is, Trump has nothing contempt for his namesake. It would be just like him to tell Junior something along the lines of ‘I knew you’d be a loser from the day you were born. You’ve been nothing but an embarrassment and tried to profit off MY name your entire life. Well, YOU are not ME – you’re on your own!’
Imagine the sad Junior will have when he learns the hard way that the get out of jail free card SCOTUS gave to daddy doesn’t extend to him!

Democrats should be out there asking when they can expect to put Uday Drumpf through the same wringer that Hunter Biden was subjected to.
After all the headaches the GOP put Hunter Biden through–and came up with bupkis for all their trouble–certainly Uday Drumpf deserves at least a small bit of the same treatment.
I will always believe in my heart the Inspector Javert level pursuit of Hunter Biden wasn’t so much about putting him in jail as driving him to commit suicide. Given how the death of his eldest son Beau affected Biden (his decision to retire when his VP term was up) the (probably correctly) assumed it would drive him to resign and retire.
Yes, most Republicans are that cruel and evil. I’ve said what I wrote above to quite a few conservatives I still interact with. While a couple were shocked at the thought, more of them had denials that were shall we say on the order of denials infused with ‘goddamit he figured it out!’
Biden took a lot of crap for pardoning Hunter, even from some Democrats. Any other person would have been allowed to cut a deal and frankly when it comes to the gun purchase charge given the shit they’d have taken from 2nd Amendment folks (who’ve howled about it plenty of times) for ANY other defendant never have charged him.
Anyway I believe Biden did the right thing pardoning his son. The fun part with Don Junior is that HIS dad might not. Tell me you don’t think part of Trump would enjoy the hell out of Junior having to defend himself in court. Financial crimes are difficult to prove and it’s possible Donnie Boy Jr. could at least get a hung jury but he’d sweat bullets. And even in a Club Fed federal pen for a year or so he’d wind up so humiliated he might actually wind up subjected to getting what he deserves.
