Trump is nothing if not transactional. The last thing he needs is a scorned Noem firing broadsides over getting fired. She thought she was untouchable and milked her high profile job for every perk and privilege she could get. Including probably some grift in the awarding of major contracts. Tonight the full measure of humiliation is setting in, but Trump softened the blow with a made up job and a fat salary that allows her to, for the time being keep her government benefits. However with her right hand man and lover Cory Lewandowski so far there’s no mention of a Trumpty welfare package.
Ouch. Worse, Lewandowski by all accounts was the one really running DHS. Word is he’s out too. However he might wind up losing more than power and perks. Also, while folks at DHS might be cautious about trashing Noem for fear of Trump getting embarrassed about her again Lewandowski is another story. As this article from Daily Mail tells us ole Cory acted like, well Cory. Went out of his way to alienate others. It’s doubtful that other than Noem he didn’t have a single friend at DHS. Worse, when it comes to Trump he’s got to deal with the fact HE is the person that convinced Trump to install her as DHS Secretary.
Lewandowski has been as loyal to Trump as one could be so Trump listened to him. Ten bucks that when Trump asked if she was up to the job, of doing anything more than looking good on camera Lewandowski told him not to worry. He and Kristi were ‘tight’ and he’d be right there taking care of the real business. As we know he made a hash of it. I rather doubt Trump will be forgiving when someone at the WH (Miller?) lays the blame for the DHS mess on Cory who isn’t all that well known. Kristi will get a pass.
Except the worst kept secret in DC has been their affair. I wonder if an old children’s taunt I learned in grade school to make fun of kissing got reworked a bit from G-rated to R. As in Cory and Kristi under a tree, eff you see kay why en gee if you catch my drift. How what’s happened today will affect their affair remains to be seen but if one or both of them gets pissed and the whole thing falls apart it could spill back on Trump.
It might because Lewandowski is a major league a-hole who likes to pick fights. Getting unceremoniously tossed from DHS and maybe not even a lesser gig along with his lover Kristi and Cory might have a stupid attack. By that I mean lash out but his days at DHS are done. One source told the Daily Mail there’s no Kristi without Cory. Another said he’ll soon be following his lover out of the department. I agree. If Mullen needs a semi-solid second in command (and he does) it will be Homan. NOT Lewandowski.
The source noted that Lewandowski knew Noem’s tenure at DHS was nearing its end, but did not expect it to happen today.
‘He’s gone. He’s out. Corey knew this was going to end – he just didn’t think it would end today.’
A former senior DHS official who worked directly under Noem said conditions inside the department will not improve until Lewandowski is removed, claiming he was the one ‘pulling the strings behind the scenes.’
‘He is vindictive. He is not an honorable person. He was willing to bend the rules to do whatever he needed to make himself and Noem look good,’ the former official said.
The source added that Lewandowski showed little hesitation in pressuring senior DHS officials and should never have been given a role inside the department.
So, put a pin in this one. Between the war in Iran and the war at home over the Epstein files this will likely get lost in the noise for a while. At least until Mullen’s confirmation hearing which could get interesting. Mullen was thought to be a safe choice who would sail through on ‘Senatorial Courtesy.’ The problem is the attacks he’s made on the chair of the Committee involved which happens to be Rand Paul. Uh Oh. Paul has not problem taking shots at Trump and his people. That’s another story for another time.
For now know that Noem isn’t the only one who’s being demoted. So is her lover Lewandowski. And HE might not even have a job once he’s finally escorted out of DHS. Hopefully that day comes very, very soon. AND that someone alerts the media as security monitors him packing up his trash. It will be popcorn time watching him being marched out of there! But there’s still that question of what’s next with him and Noem. If Noem was smart she’d fade away for a couple of years in the hopes Democrats will be too busy fixing things to hold her to account. She’s not however and if she takes Trump bribe of a sweet gig and Lewandowski doesn’t get his on (fake) golden parachute things could get real ugly real fast.

I would like to throw Corey in a hole and shovel dirt on him. I have not found *anything* good about this man. He deserves to get canned.
