That’s not a rhetorical question. This is a real thing and why should it not be in an age where illegal wars are started at the drop of a hat from inside a blanket fort at Mar-a-Lago? A combination of Donald Trump’s narcissistic collapse over Jeffrey Epstein, his failures in Minnesota, his anger at his plummeting poll numbers, fueled and exacerbated by cognitive decline, all have culminated in his delusions of omnipotence. So naturally Melania will head a meeting of the United Nations Security Council because we live in a world where protocol is whatever Trump decides it is on any given day. The Guardian:

Unlike many things the president said in his excruciatingly long SOTU speech, this was actually half true. The Trump administration’s “war on woke” has pushed a lot of large companies and institutes to retreat from the diversity, equity and inclusion policies they used to pretend to be proud of.
But while DEI may be dead, WTF hiring is very much alive. Being Wealthy, Trumpy, and/or Fox News-famous seem to be the only qualifications you need for success in Trump’s USA. It’s been announced that the first lady will lead a session of the United Nations security council on Monday titled Children, Technology, and Education in Conflict.
It can’t be stressed enough that this is highly unusual. As the White House noted in a statement: “Mrs Trump’s leadership will mark the first time a sitting US first lady presides over the security council.” Back in precedented times, you see, you generally needed a qualification or two to lead the security council. Now, however, we’re squarely in the WTF economy: Melania is a Trump, ergo automatically qualified to do anything her little heart desires.
What I want to know is why exactly Melania’s heart desires this. It’s true that the first lady likes a project and has kept herself very busy with her meme coins and coffee table books and film ventures. She has also made moves to position herself as a leading voice in the area of responsible technology for children and children in conflict. But, despite her pet projects, she’s kept a low profile as first lady and hasn’t seemed particularly enthused about public service or multilateralism.
It is my working hypothesis that there are only two reasons a Trump ever does anything: money or malice. I’m not sure holding the gavel at Monday’s security council session is particularly lucrative, so file this one under “malice”. Foisting Melania on the security council as the US assumes the body’s rotating monthly presidency sends a clear message to the world about just how seriously the Trump administration takes the UN. It feels like an attempt to undermine the credibility of the UN and multilateralism more broadly.
Trump is either sending quite the message of how unseriously he takes the United Nations or this is just part of his cognitive decline to send Melania. Maybe both. At this stage he does whatever he wants to do and he believes it is his sovereign right to do so. If you don’t take this morning’s attack on Iran without any explanation to the American people or approval of Congress as the move of a dictator, then you truly are not following the *reasoning* of this administration, such that it is.
With Melania’s pidgin English this should be quite the spectacle. We have zero allies with us on the Iran attack and now Melania will alienate our allies further come this Monday. What a sad joke we are on the world stage right now.
Instead, Epstein’s Russian whore should be forced to testify before Comer Pyle and the rest of F troop on just what she was doing on Fantasy Island.
I’ll wager it wasn’t serving Hor Dourves or sitting in as a a 4th for a few few hands of Bridge.
You have to admit, what a set up for a Russian operative than a place where the rich and powerful are letting their guard and her hair down.
or it’s an interesting scene in her sequel movie or series.
I hope there’s news conference and a journalist asks her about the girls’ school that was reportedly bombed in her husband’s Epic Fury war. How much more “in conflict” can children be?
Well, maybe the UN needs a good belly laugh right about now, to relieve the tension. Melania in charge would certainly provide that.
