I can’t decide which is worse in this story, the hypocrisy or the stupidity. How can you have an army that is directed at mass deportations, (the majority of which are Hispanic-targeted) and not have a great many of those people become disillusioned with the GOP? Just think of all the stories you’ve read of American citizens being dragged from their cars and detained, all for having a brown skin or an Hispanic last name.

Tell it to the White House, honey. Tell it to Stephen Miller. There is no way the untrained, violent thugs (as Tim Walz characterized them) in Minneapolis and elsewhere are doing anything but alienating vast numbers of Americans.
Maybe the idea of the mass deportations was that somehow it would be simple, people just vanishing one day and no protests, no wrongful deaths, no wrongful arrests, nothing unpleasant. If anybody was stupid enough to believe that in the first place, I hope they stand corrected now.

I think Jim Neighbors, better known as Gomer Pyle, USMC expressed it best in a signature line from that delightful TV show:
That’s “Nabors.” (I know–probably “autocorrect.”)
Well shit. Such a short comment I just dashed it off because I had an article I wanted to get to work on. On a side note, Gomer Pyle seems in retrospect to have been a name my Drill Instructors didn’t want to invoke. I don’t even need the fingers of one hand to count the number of times a DI said that name in those three long months of being turned from a civilian into a Marine. Big relief as it would have been damned near impossible for me not to smile and it caught get ‘thrashed’ for it!
Perhaps Representative Salazar would be better served by joining her fellow Hispanics/Latinos in leaving the GOP since the current iteration would just as soon deport them all (no matter how legal they are). And since there’s a good chance that Drumpf is going to do some “regime change” in Cuba, he’ll have a good place to deport 95% of South Florida’s Latino community (even though 99% of them have absolutely NO desire to return to “la patria” since they have no actual connection to the island).
Hispanic republicans, along with log-cabin republicans, display the same cognitive dissonance as Turkeys For Thanksgiving.
anti cuba sentiments are primarily a republican thing but even a lot of dems don’t seem to understand that the rest of the world doesn’t have a problem with the country.
