Karoline Leavitt lies more often than her boss does, which is no small achievement. However, she got caught in an embarrassing snafu Thursday morning, because right after she announced that Belgium was on the Board Of Peace, Belgium came out and said, uh uh, it was not. So who to believe, Leavitt or Belgium itself, right?

So did Trump screw up again, or did Leavitt jump the gun, or what happened exactly?

US adversaries Russia and China, as well as longtime repressive state Belarus, are among those invited to join the board, offering permanent seats for a $1 billion price tag. European allies, oil-rich gulf states, former Soviet republics and even the Pope have also received offers to join.

About 35 of the 50 invited nations are expected to attend a signing ceremony Thursday on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss resort of Davos, according to a senior administration official.
We’ll see later in the day who actually signs. On its face, it looks like Trump is trying to put his own United Nations together. So far that’s not going so well for him but who knows? The day is young.

  1. The Pope seems like a figure head to give them some legitimacy. (TV images) At 1 Billion a piece, I don’t see the Pope going for it. We’ll see how many nations do.
