I wonder if Usha Vance and Melania Trump ever actually talk? That would be an interesting thing to know, if they let their hair down and spoke about their *marriages.* The two of them flew together Wednesday to Camp Lejeune, a Marine Corps facility in North Carolina, and Usha Vance caused all the stir when she was photographed without her wedding ring on her left hand. So she made some excuses and I’m sorry, they simply do not hold water. First of all, she said that she “did a lot of dishes and gave a lot of baths to three young children.” The Vances can’t afford a housekeeper to load the dishwasher? Or a nanny? Why do I find that impossible to believe?
And why would those tasks, assuming she was doing them, keep her from wearing a wedding band? It’s totally normal to do dishes, whatever, wearing rings because the rings are only going to get clean in the soapy water. Why take them off? Maybe it’s because Usha assumes that women who actually do those tasks take off their jewelry? Or was there some deeper reason that Usha might be p.o.ed at J.D.?
As I said at the time, the hand in J.D.’s hair and his shit eating grin through it all makes you wonder. In any event, it was a bit much and I think that Usha would have been reasonable to object to this. J.D. was eating it up and that much was evident.
And then it didn’t help matters when Erika Trump said, “No one will ever replace my husband. But I do see some similarities of my husband in JD—in Vice President JD Vance,” she continued. “I do. And that’s why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight.”
Maybe Usha has put two and two together and figured out that the hot blonde widow and J.D. might make a more interesting match than she does with J.D., especially since they’re both *Xians* and Usha is not.
“As I’ve told her, and I’ve said publicly, and I’ll say now in front of 10,000 of my closest friends: Do I hope eventually that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved in by church? Yes, I honestly do wish that because I believe in the Christian Gospel, and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way,” he told attendees at a Turning Point USA event in Mississippi last month.
Not saying that J.D. would use religion as a reason to leave Usha and hook up with Erika, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility for a religious fanatic and faux Xian to claim that that’s a big deal.
Maybe it was just a Freudian slip with the wedding ring. Maybe Usha was peeved and took it off and left it off and simply didn’t put it back on because subconsciously she didn’t want to. Or maybe subconsciously she wanted somebody to ask? Who knows? We’ll keep a side eye on this little soap opera. Maybe Erika Kirk fancies being a First Lady. And J.D. would likely fancy her dragging all the Turning Point votes his direction.
