I don’t know why people keep voting Republican. It is something that has me screaming and tearing my hair out on a regular basis, but never so much as when I hear something as abjectly stupid as what you are about to hear right now. The ACA subsidies are the glaring issue of the day. The GOP doesn’t want to renew them, in which case premiums will soar and it will be a complete disaster economically for millions of Americans. So, the alternative is to come up with a new and better version of Obamacare and we’ve been hearing about that for the past fifteen years. Trump used to lie it was “only two weeks” from fruition and now listen to this.

You might as well be being told to wait a year for your next meal. You don’t need a meal  year from now, you need one today. And if somebody is telling you they’ll get you a meal in a year, they’re telling you that you’re going to starve to death, it is as simple as that.

There is no magical Republican health care plan. There never has been. Mike Johnson is lying through his teeth as usual. A plan to make a plan is not a plan. It’s just more delays and lies.

  1. The lack of a healthcare plan is a feature, not a bug, of the GOP. If people die prematurely because they can’t afford medical care, that helps to keep Social Security and other pension plans solvent. If poor people die, they won’t need those onerous government assistance programs like SNAP. It’s a puzzle that working class Republicans haven’t woken up to this truth.

  2. trump has vhimed in as well. as i understand the various claims, pronouncements and blathering they’ve basically decided that they are finally going to kill obamacare. that’s definitely what trump wants and you know mikey will do what he can to make trump’s wishes come true. and no, there is no replacement in the works.

  3. This is the time for “Medicare 4/for All” that was being touted about a decade or more ago. Take regular Medicare and provide it for ALL people. This is the time to change the tax code and start taxing on the passive wealth so many people have today to pay for it. The taxes people already pay into Medicare would also be part of the funding. We just might be able to catch up to the health and healthcare standards of other nations.

  4. The short and simple answer to why people keep voting Republican is that the Republicans have brainwashed them into believing that we, the Democrats, are Satanic. This is nothing new. I’m pretty sure it was back in the 1960s when found and bought a political joke book, which I no longer have, but still remember a couple of the jokes. One went like this:

A Democratic candidate was canvassing door to door, and at one of the hones where he stopped, the lady of the house, when she learned he was a Democrat, said, “I would vote for Satan himself before I would vote

(for a Democrat!” The candidate replied, “Madam, if Satan were on the ballot, it would not be in my district.”

(They weren’t all one way. There was a little jingle about the election being over and they would have to work together, “so I’ll hug your elephant, and you kiss my – donkey.”)

(Off topic, but you’re from Colorado, so might be interested to hear that in ruby-red Colorado Springs, a local theater company is staging the play “R.U.R.” this month.)
