The first rule of screenwriting is “show me, don’t tell me.” And if you wanted to establish that a 79-year-old dementia patient who just had an MRI a few days ago wasn’t doing so well, wouldn’t a video of him wandering in a room, stopping — seemingly lost and confused — and then wandering again with some fresh guidance, pretty much establish that your character didn’t know “where the hell he was” — a jibe he used to level at his slightly older previous opponent, not too long ago? Let’s just say that this video is worth a thousand words.

Trump is utterly lost since his host is a woman. Did he try and maul her with his handshake? You may recall that he yanked Emmanuel Macron back and forth and Trump even tried the same physical control on Macron’s wife, Brigitte, who weighs about a hundred pounds. He grabbed her in a handshake and wouldn’t let go, when she visibly tried to pull back.
So we don’t have footage — or at least I have not seen it yet — of Trump manhandling the Prime Minister of Japan but don’t count it out. It may exist and yet to be unearthed. And don’t forget, Karoline Leavitt blew off a reporter’s question about the MRI as “part of a routine exam.” An MRI is NEVER routine. The fact that the test is ordered means that a doctor is at least eliminating the possibility a condition exists or seeing if said condition has changed.
Trump looks like anything but a projection of American power.
The White House can’t hide Trump behind a desk, which has been one of their favorite moves, as the administration keeps trying to find wacky ways, like a 1980s sitcom, that is trying to hide a main character’s pregnancy to distract from Trump’s decline.
Why is Trump sitting down while surrounded by really big charts?
The White House would rather have the American people focused on that question than asking themselves why this president is seated so often, tends not to hit the road and give speeches, and disappears for days on end.
The footage from Japan shows the real Donald Trump. The Trump that this White House is trying to hide.
The guy who is getting dementia tests and unexplained MRIs.
If Joe Biden looked like that, the media would play it on an endless loop, but since this is Trump, they will pretend like everything is fine.
Everything is not okay, and you should believe your eyes when looking at the video of Donald Trump.
And I’m going to say something that may surprise you: I think it’s cruel of Melania to let this man travel alone. He is a fucking mess.

And “no wife.” I get it that Melania technically works for free (as does her spouse, for that matter, because he “gives” his salary away while grifting with both hands) but she does have the opportunity to be paid $250,000 for a speech to the Log Cabin Republicans and we will never know what she got paid just to show up at the Republican National Convention last year. That cost them plenty, I suspect.
Trump looks like a complete wreck. He should not be traveling alone. It seems to me that common decency would have Melania performing some kind of perfunctory custodial care of her spouse — although believe me, I get it. If she can’t stand being anywhere near him except when absolutely necessary, I completely get it.
But somehow, on some level, there is something wrong with this imagery. I’m not saying Trump “deserves” anything. Let me be clear about that. If there is anybody who has burned bridges and deserves to be alone in life, it is he.
I’m saying that just for the sake of imagery, of saving face, of America looking okay, can’t somebody in that family be the designed guardian and take care of their elderly, incontinent loser relative? Because he is the holder of our nation’s highest office and this, quite frankly, is embarrassing.
This is not who America is. Granted, we elected this dysfunctional shit excuse for a family into office. Twice now. But at least some facade of family support or a viable marriage needs to be made. And Melania’s one appearance every two months (or whatever the ratio is) isn’t cutting it.
So who was he waving to? Who was he doing the stupid fist pump to? It was empty tarmac! Those invisible and only seen by him fans? Sad if it was anyone else besides this evil piece of sh*t.
I wonder if he actually “sees” these people, these crowds? Or is that all posturing for the yous and mes?
And seriously, I think it’s a bad look that Trump is traveling the world, obviously abandoned by his *wife.* Again, I don’t blame her. She wasn’t signing up for this when she married him but that said, she’s missing tremendous cultural opportunities — because like hubby, it’s all just another photo op to her.
She doesn’t have what other first ladies had inside, people like Michelle Obama, Jackie Kennedy, Eleanor Roosevelt. If it’s not there, you can’t put it there later in life.
