Johnson’s “Nuclear Option” Might Be Real, As Cowardly As He Is

I am totally inflamed by Mike Johnson right now, due to his egregious and irresponsible  conduct in not handling the credible death threat leveled at Hakeem Jeffries by a RWNJ who Trump pardoned for January 6. Several of Trump’s pardonees have ended up back in trouble with the law again and more will, just mark my words. If you recall how the mass pardon took place, Trump simply did not want to take the time to look at each inmate on a case by case basis. So being lazy and impulsive, Trump simply issued a blanket pardon for violent and non-violent criminal offenders alike. And of course we had “concerned” Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, that usual tommy rot that accompanies Trump’s worse excesses.

So with that background in mind, enjoy, I say enjoy, Andy Borowitz’s comic relief column about Mike Johnson today. God knows we need a laugh right now.

WASHINGTON — The Borowitz Report. Calling it “the nuclear option,” House Speaker Mike Johnson opted on Tuesday to enter a medically induced coma to avoid swearing in newly elected Democratic congresswoman Adelita Grijalva.

Johnson spoke to reporters at Walter Reed Army Medical Center moments before doctors administered pentobarbital through an intravenous tube connected to his left hand.

“I’m doing this as a last resort,” he said. “I was really hoping that people would forget about the Epstein files or that the Rapture would happen, but no such luck.”

A Republican colleague who visited Johnson’s bedside hours after he fell into the coma said that the Speaker “seemed like his usual self.”

Yes, there is that. How to tell whether Johnson is in a coma or not. Tomorrow is Wednesday. Let’s see how long Johnson continues to stall on swearing in of the new congresswoman and blaming it all on Nancy Pelosi. Yes, he did that recently with Jonathan Karl, said that Pelosi has “set a precedent” of unnecessary stalling of a new congress member.

Let’s see what happens with the swearing in and then the vote and the likely veto of the vote and then the override of the veto and back to square one. We are not yet at the release stage of the Epstein files but we are not all that far away either. Did you ever think you’d see the day when GOP stood for Guarding Old Pedophiles?
