Donald Trump is a dangerous man. He misuses power like nobody we’ve ever seen. I said a few weeks ago that Trump might try to “show us all” by letting loose every single criminal in the country before he leaves office. For today, however, George Santos is one happy man because he doesn’t have to be accountable for his crimes. King Donald has made that happen. This is the lesson we’re teaching our young, it doesn’t matter what you do, only who you know so you can get out of it.

President Trump on Friday said he granted former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) a sentence commutation months after the ex-lawmaker reported to prison.

“George has been in solitary confinement for long stretches of time and, by all accounts, has been horribly mistreated,” the president wrote in a statement on Truth Social.

“Therefore, I just signed a Commutation, releasing George Santos from prison, IMMEDIATELY. Good luck George, have a great life!” he added.

Santos was originally sentenced to a 7-year prison term after he pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. He was expelled from Congress once it was revealed that he fabricated a majority of his resume in addition to campaign finance reports. Santos reported to prison in June.

Still, on Friday, Trump said Democratic lawmakers have done much worse.

“George Santos was somewhat of a ‘rogue,’ but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren’t forced to serve seven years in prison,” the president wrote on Friday, accusing Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) of lying about his military record.

Trump credited Santos, the first openly gay House Republican, for having “the Courage, Conviction, and Intelligence to ALWAYS VOTE REPUBLICAN!”

Yes, I should provide motion sickness bags to readers of this site. Apologies if you threw up on the keyboard. So there’s Donald Trump’s FU to America today and to the No Kings protests. He just proved he is a king, and he gave the thumbs up to George Santos.

I think it would be a splendid idea if the pardon power was rethought and restructured after this rampant abuse of it by Trump.

    • Absolutely true. He’s clearly an atheist who believes he’ll never answer for anything he does in this life. A gambler to the end.

      • Getting REALLY tired of your anti-atheist bull crap, Scott.

More criminal activity has been done in the name of religion (child abuse and sexual assault, outright genocide) than in the name of “atheism”–which, I will remind your worthless, self-righteous, keyboard warrior self, is simply a LACK OF BELIEF IN ANY GOD OR SUPERNATURAL ENTITY.

And all those grifters in the GOP make the CLAIM they’re Christian. And what they’re doing is in the name of (their view of) Christianity. YOU don’t get to decide how they identify (unless you also wish to out yourself as a transphobe in the process–like all those wonderful GOPers and “good” Christians) and you CERTAINLY don’t get to use “atheist” as some kind of slur.

      • Allow me to FURTHER remind you that calling yourself a “Christian” does NOT exempt you from being treated as badly as an atheist by certain Christian groups.

The Puritans forced their view of Christianity on everyone within their purview and anyone who chose to think a different way about Christ and His teachings was executed or exiled at the worst extreme (imprisonment was essentially the reaction to a “first-time offense”).

Catholics in this country were persecuted by “Christians” (ie, Protestants) to the point where Irish and, later Italian, immigrants were so unwelcome there were efforts to block their ability AS CITIZENS to vote (for fear they would vote as the Pope dictated).

The Ku Klux Klan used Christianity and the Bible as the basis for their entire ethos. Jews and Catholics were targets of KKK activity (just not as prevalent as both groups were far less numerous in the Deep South as the Klan’s other primary targets).

Henry VIII created his own church (still around to this day) mainly because the Pope wouldn’t sanction his divorce from Catherine of Aragon and he began disestablishing Catholic institutions in England. Then, Mary I restored Catholicism and began persecuting Protestants (earning the sobriquet “Bloody Mary”). Even today, the Monarch of the UK remains styled as the head of the Church of England (which keeps Catholics from inheriting the throne).

The European fascist regimes in Europe remained perfectly fine with the mainline Christian churches (the Roman Catholic Church as well as Lutherans and Calvinists–even Eastern Orthodox groups) mainly as their leaders gave those groups favorable treatment and those churches largely continued preaching the fascist line.

The conquistadors brought priests with them so they could spread Christianity (mainly Catholicism) and those who chose not to convert were killed.

And most of the tensions in the Middle East have their origins in RELIGION.

But, yeah. Keep blaming atheists. Jesus spoke out strongly against hypocrites. I can only imagine what He would think of you.

        • I’m not a Christian…neither was the early church…I’m a believer. You seem to get confused with titles etc. The present government is being run by atheists if you want to call them that. They don’t believe in God. They don’t believe Jesus was God incarnate. They don’t follow Jesus’s commandments. They worship the material things of this world…money and power. They are in YOUR GROUP PAL. I never listen to what people call themselves I watch WHAT THEY DO. Oh…by the way evolution is NOT PROVEN. THAT’S A LIE ABOUT THE KNOWN SCIENCE. FACT. As Ursula warned you long ago…maybe all your name calling is uncalled for. Smacks of sanctimonious bullshit covering a deep insecurity. So when exactly were you in the service???? I suspect from your refusal to acknowledge either way… you’re throwing stones at a Marine from the safety of your den.

          • The statement “the theory of evolution is not proven” is best commented upon by addressing the common misunderstanding of the word “theory” in a scientific context and then presenting the overwhelming evidence that supports evolution.

            1. Correct the Misconception of “Theory”
In everyday language, “theory” often means a guess or a hunch. In science, a scientific theory is fundamentally different:

Scientific Theory: A scientific theory is a comprehensive explanation of an aspect of the natural world that is repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment. It is a well-substantiated, established structure of ideas that explains and interprets a large body of facts.

Saying “evolution is just a theory” is like saying “gravity is just a theory” or “germs cause disease is just a theory.” The Theory of Evolution is as robust and supported as the Theory of Gravity or the Cell Theory.
Present the Evidence That Supports Evolution
The theory of evolution is not a speculation; it is supported by a massive and converging body of evidence from multiple scientific fields:

Fossil Record: Fossils show a consistent sequence of life forms over geologic time, including clear examples of transitional fossils that bridge different groups (e.g., the evolution of whales from land mammals, or the transition from early primates to humans).

Genetics and Molecular Biology: All life on Earth shares the same genetic material (DNA and RNA) and the same basic genetic code, which points to a common ancestor. Comparisons of DNA sequences show that closely related species have more similar genes than distantly related species.

Comparative Anatomy and Embryology: Organisms share homologous structures—similar internal bone structures (like the forelimbs of humans, bats, whales, and dogs) inherited from a common ancestor, even if they serve different functions now. Embryonic development across different vertebrates shows remarkable similarities.

Biogeography: The global distribution of species is best explained by evolution, continental drift, and common descent. For example, marsupials are mostly confined to Australia because they evolved there before the continents fully separated.

Direct Observation: Evolution can be observed in real-time, especially in organisms with short generation times, such as:

The evolution of antibiotic resistance in bacteria.

The evolution of pesticide resistance in insects.

Changes in the beak size of finches in response to drought conditions.

The sheer volume, consistency, and predictive power of this evidence make the theory of evolution an established scientific fact regarding the history of life, with the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection being the best-supported explanation for how it occurs.

  1. Darwins theory did prove microevolution, never addressing the origin of life. There has NEVER been an adequate proof of getting biochemistry, thru mass and energy, to having a single cell. Never has been done. Go listen to Dr. Stephen Meyer discuss the ACTUAL SCIENCE, including how did all that genetic code wind up inside the structure of the DNA in the first place? Your analysis is full of leaps of faith not provable facts. Watch the video and you’ll find things aren’t quite that cut and dry. Oh, and remember 65% of Nobel Prize winners in science from 1900 to 2000 are theists. I’ll go with them over people who grew up with neodarwinism.

    • Oh by the way just look up the words in Websters dictionary. You claim a scientific theory is a proven fact. Those are mutually exclusive…IF it was PROVEN by the scientific method it would be called a Fact. Otherwise, a generally accepted theory people believe remains unproven. Is light a wave? Not proven. Evolution is not a proven fact. That’s a fact. Research recent discoveries by SCIENCE in terns of genetics and microbiology and you’ll find proof it isn’t an established fact any more than the long ago accepted belief we observed we were the center of the universe. Stop questioning…stop learning. That’s my theory that I have a mountain of evidence for just visiting this site. I can’t prove it no more than you can prove there isn’t an intelligence as the causal agent of ultimate reality. Something from nothing, as the materialist must believe, since the factual discovery galaxies are rapidly expanding thus proving the singularity of the universe. Sure…that sounds more implausible than the first line of Genesis…In the beginning, GOD created the heavens and earth. No one created God. At least believers have an explanation you materialist DO NOT…Oh…and no scientist can explain it.
