Well, it seems there is dissent from the people of Britain. They do NOT like Trump, oh, no, not at all. They are most certainly not afraid to say so, perhaps to the chagrin of the king and prime minister. This visit is not going as planned, outside the area where they will be feting Trump. I’ll bet they found a way to embarrass him and remind him that all is not well with what he has done. From MSNBC 47:
The shadow of Jeffrey Epstein looms over President Donald Trump’s high-stakes trip to the United Kingdom, as ties to the late convicted sex offender continue to damage political and business leaders around the world. Ahead of Trump’s visit, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer fired his ambassador to the United States over leaked email exchanges with Epstein, renewing questions about the financier’s alleged links to other powerful British people.
Ouch. That leaves Prime Minister Starmer with egg on his face. And it means that he has to try and find a way past it that won’t make the PM look even worse. There is already unrest in the ranks of the government, and this is not helping. Their celebrations of Trump are going to generate a lot of questions. People will wonder why the whole hoorah and money spent to “celebrate” Trump, when he is not a good guy. He’s a petty, power-hungry excuse for a president. It looks like they are trying to appease him instead of making him answer the hard questions. What a waste.
The news all but ensured that Trump will again be confronted with questions about Epstein during his U.K. visit. Reminders of Epstein will be both literal and figurative for Trump in London, after a protest group known as “Everyone Hates Elon” raised thousands of pounds to plaster the city with one of the most well-known images of Trump and Epstein. Trump had hoped for a more stately welcome featuring royal pageantry, as he got during a visit as president in 2019.
Yup. They didn’t know what a jerk he was then. Now they know, but they’re still putting on the ritz for him. It makes you wonder what is going on in the background. It’s bad enough that he will be the only president to be invited to the UK twice. That disgusts me. Why they are catering to this authoritarian man who has decimated our country and our reputation is beyond me.
“He enjoyed the ceremony of it, the pomp and circumstance, and the regalia,” recalled Michael Martins, a former official who served during Trump’s first state visit. “There will be even more of an emphasis on that, because of what’s going on in both sides’ domestic politics.” Both he and Starmer appeared to hope the visit would help distract from more nettlesome political troubles, such as the questions about Epstein.
The subject, however, will almost certainly arise during a press conference scheduled for Thursday. “He’s [EDIT: Prime Minister Starmer] having to walk this delicate tightrope where on the international stage, the U.S. and the U.K. have such a strong and deep partnership” and “he wants American support,” Martins said, but “if he’s seen as too close to Trump, that could expose him to some backlash there, that he’s going to have to live with politically.”
That is quite a tightrope to walk. Trump doesn’t care much about anything except himself and power. He certainly hates questions about Epstein, though. Sir Starmer has to try to avoid anything to do with Epstein so the country can show they want to work with Trump and get the tariffs crap worked out. So they are putting on the pomp and pageantry for Trump and hoping it has results. I look forward to seeing how the people of Britain keep cutting through the bullshizzle and show Trump how much he’s detested. It will really be something.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

The UK can keep Trump & Melania far as I’m concerned.
Hell no, we don’t want him!
As a father of 3 girls…one white, one mixed, one black, it’s abhorrent that we have a child rapist and man who assaulted multiple underage and grown women, AS PHUCKING PRESIDENT! HEY AMERICA…PHUCK YOU! By the way…your asshole ‘god’ wears makeup, a girdle, Depends, shoelifts, capped teeth, and enough hairspray to cover the baldness. Some phucking hero you morons worship.
