He’s getting increasingly unsettled about the one thing that could (or can, or will) torpedo his presidency. He and his cabinet are deny, deny, deny, changing the subject to something else volatile, changing to good news about things he’s done, like the economy and inflation, which are exactly what *isn’t* good news. He is trying to fire federal officials, and he can’t. All of this does not distract for more than a day. From AlterNet:
President Donald Trump has weathered scandal after scandal, including bankruptcies, public divorces, and lawsuits. But Epstein is a problem for Trump because the people around him had campaigned on releasing these files, and Trump made his own contributions to the call for transparency. and the possibility of imprisonment, according to American Conservative writer George D. O’Neill Jr. “Yet after successfully navigating all these daunting travails, Trump appears to be spooked by calls from his own base to release the Epstein files. His bizarre and extraordinary response to the recent publication of a birthday card given to Epstein and bearing Trump’s signature only intensifies the serious concerns of the American public.”
Gee, ya think? They’ve been bullshizzling for months now. It doesn’t matter that promises are broken, because he does that all the time, including about this. Everyone wanted the Epstein files. As time goes by, there is no release except the ones we already knew about, or the dibs and drabs of the occasional leak to the papers. We’ve seen nothing else. And we are tired of waiting. So yes, people are increasing the pressure.
“This is quite a reversal and contradicts their campaign pronouncements.” O’Neil expressed doubt that Trump is merely trying to avoid personal embarrassment. “Who or what has been able to cause the Republican leadership in both houses of Congress to babble silly excuses and obvious deceptions to justify their efforts to conceal this information from the public?” he asked. O’Neil said Trump is proving himself to be among the secretive elite that American voters despise.
Some … well, most of the excuses are so obvious right away, as exactly what they are, silly excuses. Any reason works for about a day, then it’s right back to Epstein. The whole thing with Ghislaine Maxwell talking to Todd Blanche, alone with him, and then she gets moved to a *much* nicer prison, was recognized for what it was. We called bullshizzle on that, too. So right back to the Epstein files. What’s more annoying is that they’re trying everything and anything to redirect, and WE KNOW IT. They *refuse* to see that.
The Epstein saga is “a glaring continuation of the long practice of our government’s hiding unseemly policies and practices” repugnant to the voters. It’s enough to make you think there’s “a massive Mafia-like blackmail operation” with “inordinate power over our leaders,” said O’Neill. “Hopefully, there are enough honest people in Washington who can overcome the pressure from those who would conceal the truth.”
Now *that* is an interesting thought. Blackmail. It’s certainly plausible, but from whom? How many people are in the files? I’m sure some of them are now old enough that they really don’t care if the information comes out. (An example would be Bill Clinton. He’s in his 80s, and I’ll bet he doesn’t give a damn anymore.) Blackmail would give us something to chew on for likely a couple of days. Then we’d go right back to demanding those files. So potentially, there is even more to add to the picture – but how would we find out?
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

There is a danger that the Kirk murder will be the event that moves the media dial away from Epstein, even as it appears the alleged killer may have been from a MAGA faction that is fully for full release of all information. Hopefully, the Epstein pot continues to simmer and boil in the background to fully reappear in the next news cycle.
I think that the Kirk murder will dominate for a while, but will then fade away just like the Luigi Mangione did, and that one lasted longer because it took 5 days to catch him. And then we will be back to Epstein. Hopefully.
