Maybe Donald Trump will wake up and listen to one of the people in his former administration. That’s granting arguendo that he even remembers this guy. In Trump 1.0, as you vividly recall, the turnover in staff and cabinet members was unlike anything that had ever been seen in politics. Rachel Maddow had a wall behind her, jammed with photos of all of the people who had started out with Trump and sputtered to an end. And then a successor was appointed, rinse and repeat. That’s why towards the end, everybody Trump had working for him was “acting” this or that, because things were so far out of control. Here is Trump’s former Surgeon General chiming in on how Bobby Kennedy Jr. is doing so far.
“People are going to die.”

Why an environmental lawyer is giving medical advice to the nation is something that is ridiculous on its face. But this is the era of Trump and so all these things make sense when viewed through that warped lens.
This is a continuation of COVID idiocy and look at who died from that? Countless people who were otherwise young and health decided not to get vaccinated. Or, they decided to drink aquarium cleaner or take horse vitamins or something else equally absurd. Last Friday, when asked if the Department of Health and Human Services had a scientific justification for stopping the funding on mRNA vaccines, a spokesperson provided a link to a 181-page list of studies compiled by a number of people, including a current Trump administration adviser who served in the Trump’s first administration and was the subject of controversy for pushing unproven COVID-19 treatments. Same shit, different year. Plus, this is part of Trump’s wider war on science.
Kennedy is known for his vaccine scepticism and recently ousted all 17 members of a scientific advisory panel on vaccines at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to be replaced with his own selections. However, this latest announcement is just part of a series of moves by President Donald Trump himself that appear to target the vaccine industry and give increasing weight to the arguments of vaccine sceptics in the US.
Trump has previously undermined the efficacy of vaccines and sought to cut funding to vaccine programmes. Public health experts sounded the alarm after his election win in November, warning there would likely be a “war on vaccines” under Trump.
“My main concern is that this is part of an increasingly ideological rather than evidence-based approach to healthcare and vaccination in particular that is being adopted in the US,” David Elliman, associate professor at University College London, told Al Jazeera.
“This is likely to increase vaccine hesitancy … [and] will result in more suffering and death, particularly for children. This would be a tragedy, even more so because it is avoidable.”
There is a lot of avoidable misery that is going to befall us due to the fact that Trump got voted back in. His election to a second term is the worse thing to happen to this country since his first term. We can only hope that sanity will return to governance when we finally are through with this man, either due to constitutional limits or an act of God. Meanwhile, expect Bobby Junior to be the focal point of the worst decision making in this administration, when that task isn’t being performed by Pete Hegseth, with Sean Duffy and nuclear plants on the Moon running a close second.

You were spot-on pointing out we are seeing a continuation of the COVID idiocy. Kennedy was a major force in the anti-vac movement for a long, long time. His efforts fertilized the soil for Trump’s ability to convince so many people to reject getting tested for or treated for COVID (until it was too late and they’d gotten it AND spread it to others) and then rejecting vaccination which made the problem continue longer than it should have. Probably a half-million or more in this country died that wouldn’t have if the whole thing had been properly managed and people had gotten vaccinated as soon as it was possible for them to do so.
So from where I sit even before his current posting Kennedy is responsible for tens of thousands (if not into the hundreds of thousands) deaths on that alone. Now with his continued anti-vax nonsense measles has been making a comeback and the outbreak in Tex-ASS that cost quite a few people including children their lives will turn out to be the first of many. No doubt his mucking around with Flu and Covid vaccines will mean a poor rollout this year and an appalling rate of vaccination. Which will cost tens of thousands of lives by late spring/early summer next year.
We could legitimately call him Dr. Robert F. Kevorkian except of course Kennedy isn’t a fucking doctor. He has zero medical education or clinical experience. No experience to my knowledge working in agencies that provide advice on public health either. Now he’s head of HHS. As far as I’m concerned he’s a white-collar mass murderer.
Step up Europe and Asia, the time has come for you to replace the American pharmaceutical industry, starting with mNRA vaccines for the respiratory epidemics we all know are looming in our global futures. Millions of gullible, lethargic Americans will get very ill and/or die, but the rest of the world can avoid this self-inflicted horror. Our next pandemic should be christened The Trump-Kennedy Plague.
You can’t really focus on one person in this administration too much; it’s an ensemble cast, and there are many dufuses just waiting for their chance to shine and please daddy. If you take your eye off any of them for too long, you won’t know what sort of mischief they’re up to. It’s a monumental task, much like trying to herd cats. This is in no way meant to discount the dangers Bobby Jr. poses, for there are many.
If you’ve ever had a bs drinking session with your friends, you know that people are always spouting off that they could do a certain job better than the person already doing it. And this isn’t restricted to one’s profession; it could be any profession. Well, we’re seeing that idea playing out in the Cheeto administration, totally unqualified people given jobs they know nothing about! What could go wrong?
