Most people are having a normal Saturday night, whether that means dinner with friends, seeing a movie, or in Donald Trump’s case, raging on social media with bizarre and ungrounded accusations. He’s very upset tonight with Chuck Schumer. He’s even more upset that his nominees have not been all rubber stamped and sent through the confirmation process without incident. And of course he’s upset about Jeffrey Epstein and a great many other things, so here’s what all that combined rage and frustration looks like.

Schumer, crying or not, did not demand a billion dollars. He is trying to claw back some concessions from Trump’s BBB, namely to fund National Public Radio, or the National Health Institute, or provide aid to starving children. But nowhere has the figure one billion dollars come up, except out of Trump’s imagination.

The appointment confirmation process is going a lot slower than usual and that’s not a bad thing, considering what Trump’s easily confirmed people have done, or how they have fared, even if they did nothing but the job they were assigned to do. Erika McEntarfer was approved last year to head the Bureau Of Labor Statistics and she got fired yesterday because Massah Donald didn’t like the figures that she generated.

Then we’ve seen what other approved nominees have done. Take your pick, who’s worse? Pete Hegseth? Kash Patel? Pam Bondi? So in point of fact, it would benefit everybody if a bit more time was taken to make sure that the people who are going into these jobs will survive in these jobs.

And in fact that may not be possible. Trump is just too far out there now. He explodes over any and everything. He wants perfect and unquestioning capitulation and not any kind of a democratic process.

The hostility level is going full blast tonight. Maybe it will be an all nighter. Or maybe the senators will follow Trump’s instructions and go back and tell their constituents “what bad people the Democrats are and what a great job the Republicans are doing.”

Great idea. Tell them that. And tell them that in four months or six when the economy is imploding and there’s no work, plenty of inflation and the stock market is playing pinball with itself.

  1. In the movie Lawrence of Arabia, Lawrence was sent to Arabia. As he and his Bedouin guide crossed the desert on camels, Lawrence refused to drink water if the guide didn’t drink. The guide was perplexed, and, as they sat by the fire resting, the guide asked him if he was from a desert country. Lawrence replied naming the town in England he was from. The guide, still confused, asked again is that a desert country. Lawrence replied, no…it was a fat country full of fat people. The guide asked, are you fat? Lawrence replied, no I’m different.
America…a fat forgetful vapid country, full of fat forgetful vapid people. Trump is the perfect poster child for a place such as this.
