Donnie Boy is unhappy. He can’t understand why his poll numbers are cratering. He thinks he did everything that he promised to do. Ha. He’s done quite the opposite, but won’t let himself see it. There’s not room in Trump’s head for something bad – hence it comes out in the oh dark hundred random Truth Social rants. From The New Republic via AlterNet:
“He complains, we read, that he’s accomplished a great deal and that he’s keeping his campaign promises … So he can’t figure out why he’s at 37 percent,” writes Tomasky. “I could tell him why,” Tomasky adds—and No. 1 is likely because the promises he’s managing to keep are unpopular.
Gee, ya think? The promises he made during his campaign were actually pretty good, I’ll give him that. Too bad Trump and Congress didn’t follow through. America is getting worse, not better, unless you’re a gazillionaire. THEY have nothing to worry about. The problem is that the rest of this civilian population, like us, most certainly has a lot to worry about.
“The big, ugly bill—unpopular. Rounding up poor guys hanging out at Home Depot looking for work—unpopular. Putting people in, yes, concentration camps—unpopular,” writes Tomasky. “Cutting his Palm Beach pals’ taxes—unpopular. Imposing these absurd tariffs—unpopular. I could go on. There is literally not a single important item on the Trump domestic agenda that polls well.”
Unpopular is a pretty word for what’s really happening. The economy is tanking. Tariffs are driving up prices. Losing immigrants means less food because it’s rotting in the fields. And that’s very much hurting our farmers, as well as our pocketbooks. We’ve all seen pictures of ICE grabbing people working on a farm and being nasty (okay, very close to abusive) to them. Losing them means construction takes longer. Nothing is going to be like what Trump promised. And he wonders why he has poor numbers.
And you can’t discount the promises Trump’s broken, Tomasky said. These include lowering prices on day one, ending Russia’s war on Ukraine and bringing peace to the Middle East, among others. But Trump’s policy failures pale in comparison to his other major flaw keeping his numbers low, said Tomasky. It’s Epstein that is catching up with him, he writes. And that story is far from over.
Yes indeed, it’s far from over. We are finding out just how *much* of a sleazeball Trump is, right out here in broad daylight. As more of the files get leaked out, the worse he looks. Personally, I think it’s great. I hope that even people from MAGA are going to see him for what he really is. And the grift, good gods. It’s also right out there in the open (Trump perfume, anyone?). He’s making money hand over fist as the *president*. Trump doesn’t even try to hide it anymore. We have 3 and a half years left of this. Who knows what will happen next?
