One thing that the election of Donald Trump a second time has done for this country is that now it is believed that Americans are complete morons. And I guess that’s fair. Any country where a man like Trump can even get on the ticket of a major party is a country where something is seriously wrong. We need an intervention, maybe from some advanced alien civilization who is millenia more advanced than we are, to explain to us what they did in a similar situation when they were only out of the cave for a few hundred thousand years. Maybe all societies go through a phase where television and image trump common sense. Even Machievelli opined hundreds of years ago that “the vulgar crowd always is taken by appearances and the world consists chiefly of the vulgar.”
Scott Bessent was on television fluffing Trump. That’s not unusual at all. That’s standard operating procedure. But the part that goes entirely off the walls is when he starts comparing Trump to Biden and Obama. The descriptors he uses are simply beyond the pale.
Donald Trump has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy 6x and has been involved in over 4,000 lawsuits.
Scott Bessent needs to re-evaluate his credentials for someone who’s economically stable.

A kid with a piggy bank and a hammer is more economically sophisticated than Donald Trump. And I love the takedown of the Wall Street Journal, that it’s not geared up to Trump’s terrific level. The Journal primarily exists as the newspaper for executives, for movers and shakers and people who avidly follow the stock market and politics.
That said, I don’t know who Bessent thinks is listening to this broadcast. Because only a complete moron or an ultra uber MAGA would believe that Trump is some kind of an economic genius after all his bankruptcies and after he’s gotten the United States deeper in debt, both in his first administration and already in this one, which is only six months old.
It’s horrifying on a certain level that Trump owns the GOP to this extent. But then they lost their way a while ago. Even the Bush family can’t stand Trump and Ronald Reagan’s son, Michael, said in 2016, “If my father were here, he wouldn’t stand for this and Nancy would have voted for Hillary.”
But 2016 was the era of what I predict will come to be known as the Great Schism, or something to that effect, when not only did a candidate arise on the GOP side that the Democrats hated with a passion beyond description, but that a third of the GOP sided with the Democrats and jumped ship.
And maybe I’m off on the “a third” estimate. Maybe it seems like there are so many Never Trumpers because there are so many prominent ones. I’m thinking of the likes of Charlie Sykes, Rick Wilson, the Bulwark and Lincoln Project crowd. And maybe they are only a handful of intelligentsia.
But whatever the actual numbers, nobody is going to disagree that Trump is the most controversial and hated occupant of the Oval Office in history. And his inner circle lies for him in such a fluffing, condescending, incredulous manner that we also have never seen.
I don’t know how Bessent can live with himself. Bessent is openly gay and maybe Trump has some dirt on him. I can only speculate what would make an intelligent man like Bessent get on TV and lie like a rug.

“nobody is going to disagree that Trump is the most controversial and hated occupant of the Oval Office in history.”
Or indeed, beyond any shadow of doubt, that he is, by far, the most stupid, most ignorant and all round dumbest President there has ever been, and probably ever will be.
