It was an asinine as always press conference in the Oval Office this morning. Trump went on about how the Republicans are “stupid” for wanting to know about Jeffrey Epstein. As far as Trump is concerned, the matter is as dead and buried as Epstein himself is. Except that that’s not the case at all. His own MAGA cult is ravenously seeking disclosure of the Epstein client list. Meanwhile, Congress will not vote to allow Ghislaine Maxwell to come and speak to the issue, whether out of fear of reprisal from Trump or fear that their own hides are on the list, is not known. But after Trump talked about the Epstein “hoax” he got onto the topic of Jerome Powell.
Fox has confirmed that President Trump asked a group of House Republicans if he should fire Fed Chair Jerome Powell.
Fox is told that that lawmakers agreed he should be fired.
“He’s going to do it,” said one source.
When asked when, the source replied “soon.”

It won’t be easy for Trump to fire Powell. It is definitely ill advised to do so. But if Trump is anxious to deflect the news cycle from Epstein, he might throw that particular monkey wrench into it. Also, Trump always complains that the interest rate should be adjusted, in order to mask the fact that inflation is taking place.
This would be dangerous as hell to do to the economy, but don’t think that will stop Trump. If you go over to “Truth” Social right now you’ll see him bragging about all the “revenue” pouring into the country from tariffs, all the “jobs created” (a total lie) and other make believe fantasies he wants his followers to believe.
And for the moment, his followers are still fixated on Epstein. And that is not going to change. Trump campaigned on Epstein, made a big deal out of it, and now he can’t simply wriggle out of it by insulting people like he always does.

I bet Trump forces the law firms who capitulated to him to pro Bono this case when Powell sues. If SCOTUS rules that Trump can fire him then that goes for all presidents who could do the same in the future.
Biden’s economy called for lowering interest rates all four years yet Powell resisted until just prior to the election when Trump accused him of interfering!
