Homan Says No One Wants To See People Die During ICE Raids. I Call Bull$***t

Border Czar Tom Homan did the Sunday shows and the death of a worker during a raid by his THUGS on one of the largest (legal I should add) marijuana farms in California. One of the workers tried to hide – on top of one of the greenhouses but fell thirty feet. He sustained a broken neck and died the next day. Homan called it “sad” and “unfortunate” and I don’t for one second believe he feels that way.

According to this article from USA Today while Jamie Alanis was the only one who died others sustained critical injuries during the raids. (Another farm was raided) Alanis climbed on top of one of the greenhouses to evade the agents and as I noted fell thirty feet which is more than enough to sustain major, even fatal injuries. Details on just how he came to fall over the edge to his death still haven’t been reported.

I for one would like some details about the moments before he went over the edge. Was he alone up there? Were others trying to evade capture and deportation up there too and did one of them bump against him? Were ICE agents up there with weapons drawn shouting orders and tossing tear gas?  I have a hard time believing Alanis simply ‘went over the edge’ for no reason. Homan however flatly states he and his GOONS had nothing to do with it:

According to multiple reports, Alanis climbed to the roof of a greenhouse in an alleged attempt to evade officers. He then fell about 30 feet and broke his neck. Alanis died the next day in an area hospital.

In his interview with CNN, Homan defended immigration officials, saying they were “doing their job” at the time of Alanis’ fall.

“He wasn’t in ICE custody,” Homan said. “ICE did not have hands on this person.”

It’s that last part, about ‘not  having hands on this person’ that jumps out at me. The lack of details on whether ICE agents were on the roof troubles me. Imagine you’re trying to get away from them. You try hiding on the roof, but it is after all a greenhouse and easy enough for agents to just look up and see one or more of the people they’re hunting up there. So one or more head up there to make sure they don’t escape. Is it so hard to think maybe one or more agents were advancing on this guy shouting threats?  And he panicked after retreating as far as he could to the edge? And an agent said or did something that made him fear for his life?

I believe there’s more to this story. Those words about ‘not having hands on him’ speak volumes, at least to me.  Whether it’s ICE or regular local LE when they’ve got someone cornered and a group is shouting commands, all telling a person something different people panic. And wind up dead.  Scaring the guy on the edge of the roof enough to cause him to try and back up just a bit is no different than riddling him with bullets!

So in addition to families being traumatized and split up, we have people who were critically injured and one dead. Homan calls it sad and unfortunate and I call bullshit. It’s EXACTLY his job to ensure this kind of tragedy happens. Every day it doesn’t he’s got Stephen Miller on the phone cussing him out!  Tom Homan doesn’t care one bit about this death or any others that happen on his watch.

Worse, journalists don’t have the guts to confront him when he spouts the platitudes he got away with saying on the Sunday shows.  It’s safe to assume we’ll see more and more ICE raids that result in deaths.  Just like Trump and his people want.
