This is almost hard to watch. This is a real battle zone on American soil but the especially cruel part is that innocent children are involved, Their parents are largely innocent as well. But we have a situation in this country now where the rule of law is inverted and you are now guilty until proven innocent. This is one of the saddest things that you’re going to see. Governor Newsom is right to lash out at Trump like he does, because Trump is the sole cause of this misery. Nothing is gained by this cruelty except photo ops for bullies.

Tear gas is nothing to mess with. I know this personally and my heart goes out to these kids to have to experience this. I got tear gassed once but I put myself in harm’s way. I attended a Vietnam protest back in the early 70’s in Boulder, Colorado. I know what it is to run from a cloud of tear gas. I got lucky. I happened to be reporting this situation that night with a news crew from a local radio station and we ran for the car, when the tear gas headed our way. Blessedly, there were gas masks inside and I could get some oxygen. But the shock to your eyes and nose, the tears streaming down your face — it’s a horrible experience. I wouldn’t wish it on an enemy and for Trump to do this to helpless people in the field, let alone children, is an abomination.
Illegals do not stroll over the border and get Medicaid. Medicaid is tough to get and has strict guidelines. I personally have been off and on Medicaid, so I know whereof I speak. You have been lied to.

This is what gins up all the hate and this is why the Democrats need to get much better at messenging. There is a belief — fostered by right-wing propagandists — that illegals have it made in the shade. Just come on in to the USA and you’ll get a credit card, SNAP, Medicaid, all kinds of things. It is not true. But you clearly see here, this is what MAGA believes.

Trump is attempting to wreck this economy from all angles. Crops will rot in the fields, hotels (like the ones he own) will not run without some migrant labor. That is the status quo. Unless Trump is able to find some way to build a Robbie the Robot that can be a chambermaid, busboy and farm worker, he’s going to upend a system that has worked well and benefitted many, including him.
This is just the beginning. It will get a lot worse from here on.

I wish we could make maggats pick our food, then they would realize what our loyal immigrants do for this country. Make them bend over for 8 hours a day picking crops
