Buckle up because it’s going to be a confusing night. Possibly bumpy as well, but absolutely confusing. Here is the state of play as we know it: Elon Musk announced the formation of his America Party on July 5th, presumably in direct response to the passage of the BBB the previous day, which Musk had copiously gone on record as opposing. Then it immediately gets confusing. Take a look at this.
This filing is false and has been reported as such to the FEC

🚨 JUST IN: Elon Musk says the FEC filing establishing creation of the America Party is fake

This is brand new. So did Musk create the party or he did not create the party? Or, he did create the party but now he’s come to regret it? That’s a possibility. While we wait for clarification on whether the America Party had died stillborn, let’s take a look at Scott Bessent’s comments about (and to) Elon Musk.
🚨 Holy SMOKES: Scott Bessent with a message for Elon Musk…
"The principles of DOGE were very popular. If you looked at the polling, Elon was NOT."
"Those Board of Directors did not like this announcement [of a new party] yesterday."pic.twitter.com/riAVdIdyMO

So the inference is that the Board of Directors want Elon in his place managing his businesses. And we knew that. We found that out at least a month ago, if not more, when Musk decided that when his appointment as a temporary government employee was over, that he was going to move on down the road and go back to work with his previous business interests.

You see the level of confusion and weirdness here.
- Musk himself said the filing was fake. That is in Twit/X, I saw it with my own eyes.
- The person who did the filing is affiliated with Tesla, evidently.
- So that individual just decide to create a party on his own?
- Is Musk saying that particular filing is fake, not the same as saying that the creation of The America Party is fake?
You see what’s totally odd here. Musk claimed he would start a new party and announced the creation of one. Now, the following day, we have word of a fake filing — but does that mean that the entire idea has been rescinded and there is no third party?
And if there is no third party now, is that a result of Donald Trump weighing in and calling Musk a “TRAIN WRECK” and implying that he’s a traitor as well? And is Scott Bessent giving him a quiet word, “Go back to work,” and leaving out the part about people wearing cement overshoes and being found in nearby bodies of water, a factor which is weighing into his decision?
Your guess is as good as anybody’s. I’m anxious to see how this story develops.

There is a filing on 07/06/25 for an American Party, but not Elon’s.
