You knew that this was coming. And it will likely keep coming the next 3.5 years because this is the No Accountability misadministration. Trump is the anti-Truman, the buck not only doesn’t stop with him, nothing is the fault of anybody in his cabinet or beyond. It’s all Joe Biden’s fault and will continue to be so. What I can’t wait for is when the results of the BBB start to kick in and they find a way to pin that on Biden. That will be good. But for today we have Kristi Noem droning on sanctimoniously about “having to renew this ancient system” that the weather service had. And if you hear an echo, yes, you’re right. Sean Duffy explains all his problems on outdated aviation equipment and the like. So you see, it’s all Biden’s fault. Trump and his people are blameless.

The tweet ends “amid events like the July 2025 Texas floods, where alert failures were noted. Noem’s claim of upgrades lacks evidence; instead, sources indicate budget reductions. For details: [The Guardian, The Hill].” Golly gee, even Grok knows better. Fancy that. And it would be interesting to ask Big Balls or Elon or somebody if this was on DOGE’s “fraud, waste and abuse” list because hey, it’s only weather, right? How important can it be? The pattern keeps repeating itself:

  1. Elon Musk went in and gummed up the works;
  2. Musk is gone but the works are still gummed up. Plus Russell Vought and Stephen Miller are still running the show and that’s a permanent gum up across the boards;
  3. Something awful happens — National Airport plane crash, FEMA being run by somebody who didn’t know there was a hurricane season, the flash flood in Texas — and then it’s the fault of the previous administration and this administration is blameless;
  4. Rinse and repeat.

And we were warned in April about this happening. The National Weather Service is staffed at less than half in Houston now, 44%.

Maybe this will change now, dare we hope? Rand Paul did go on record saying that the Republicans owned the BBB and the increased debt. That clip will unquestionably be played over and over. Maybe the tragedy in Texas will be a wake up call, too.

Plus, the more time Trump is in office the lamer the excuses get. He’s having problems now blaming the bad jobs report for this month on Biden, because after all, we are almost six months in to Trump’s second reign. When does it start being his screw up and when does he stop doing his victim schict? I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for him to stop playing the victim, but definitely the plausibility goes down daily. And at some point there will be zero plausibility and Trump will simply sound stupid as he whines and passes the buck.

Remember, Trump is a one-trick pony. His entire power in politics rests upon the fact that he claims that the other side has done it all wrong and they “don’t know what the hell they’re doing.” Whereas, he does. And if you just vote for him, he’ll fix it all on Day One. Unfortunately, Day One is long gone and now Trump says claims to fix something on Day One — notably the Ukraine war, and in his first term, the Wall — were all “sarcastic” jibes and a “joke.” The only joke is him. Unfortunately, people vote for him. To our collective disgrace and dismay, people still vote Republican against their better interests.

  1. It’s really simple.

    Take half the money, (or more), away from weather forecasting.

    Get half the weather forecasting.

    When what we want is the most weather forecasting we can possibly get.

    Because it SAVES money, and SAVES lives.

  2. Biden’s fault? One…everyone knows he died years ago, and actors have been playing him…hence the autopen; and two…that flood was caused by the river gods, angry because Texas was once an independent country for a decade, only to become a vassal. Now every goddamn body, who wouldn’t know a steer from a kangaroo, is wearing cowboy boots and hats. It’s either that, or those Jewish lasers. I’ll let you know in two weeks.

  3. If upgrades to our “ancient” weather forecasting system were voted down in Congress, I’m pretty sure it was the Republicans who voted no. Know-Nothing Noem is just looking for a scapegoat.
