Yes, the midnight oil is burning bright on Capitol Hill tonight. Drama is taking place. John Thune is looking at his watch. Procedural votes are happening and if things stall there, then there won’t be any substantive vote tonight. Here’s a sample of the energy in the room right now.
Collins voted aye after a conversation with Thune. She said she is leaning against the bill on final passage, but passed up a chance to hold it hostage tonight.

HIGH DRAMA IN THE SENATE.
There are 50 no votes on proceeding to reconciliation. Murkowski, Rick Scott, Mike Lee have not voted. One more no vote stalls the bill.
Collins voted aye.
Tillis, Ron Johnson and Rand Paul have voted no.

That’s just to set the atmosphere. Here’s the video you need to see. Rand Paul is taking responsibility on behalf of the GOP if this horrific bill passes. This is a moment in living history, friends. Bookmark this and keep it safe because if this monstrosity of a bill passes in its current form, it will be all the Democrats’ fault and in short order. You know how this goes.
GOP Senator Rand Paul:
“Once this bill votes, and this debt ceiling goes through, the debt is owned by the GOP, and there is no more campaigning and saying 'This is the Democrats.' It will be owned by the Republicans” pic.twitter.com/4iKGlqTxlo

Brave words now. And once again we point out to you the utter incongruity of the fact that now Rand Paul is the voice of reason. John McCain is spinning in his grave double time tonight.
We are almost eight years from McCain’s iconic thumb down

I think this is going to stall tonight. It has that vibe, because there’s so much rabid opposition to this bill that to hope for a quick and smooth passage and especially tonight, is just not reality.

This bill is not viable in its present form. It will not pass tonight unless somebody pulls an unforeseen rabbit out of the hat. Trump, if you care, was off playing golf today. Which is better than him being on his phone and telling the Ayatollah how lucky he is that Trump didn’t have him blown away. Just another normal day in Trump 2.0.

Go ahead America…be the drunk girl at the biker rally yelling I’M SO DRUNK!! Then…expect to be used and abused. Nine years of this serial rapist/liar/serial killer/white supremacist nazi…and you still want to drink the grapejuice???? Go ahead and get all the karmic hell we deserve.
trump’s big beautiful bill will turn butt-ugly when the markets open the day after it is signed into law, if that happens. It’s not just that it will balloon the national debt beyond a sustainable level. It’s that the country under trump will no longer be seen as a stable place in which to invest. Capital will flee, interest rates will rocket upward, and the economy will crash.
If you’re a senator and you think your PACs and pensions are safe, think again. Screw your heads on real tight, and vote against this bill.
