Trump runs military sorties the way he orders up parades, complete flops. Maybe he should stay away from anything military, ya think? He’ll hit the roof when he sees this. He’s already gone out of his way to claim that commentators who question whether the bunker buster ploy was a bomb in the figurative sense, are pushing “fake news.” Well, unless Ali Khomenei himself is pushing fake news — and don’t be surprised if Trump claims just that — the political theater exercise last weekend was an expensive flop. Daily Beast:

“The nuclear program of Iran will resume without interruption, and we are ready to restart enrichment; our program will not stop,” stated the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, according to reports from state media.

The announcement came amid ongoing questions about how much damage was done to the three Iranian plants, and whether Iran was able to hide some of its stockpile before the U.S. bombings over the weekend.

According to an initial U.S. intelligence assessment leaked to CNN, the strikes only set the program back by months and did not destroy core components of the program.

The early analysis was produced by the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s intelligence arm, but has been dismissed by the White House.

The decision to strike Iran was also made without congressional approval, prompting demands that the administration provide Congress with a classified briefing.

The meeting was meant to take place on Tuesday but was suddenly postponed to Thursday without explanation. And you wanna bet something? It will get canceled on Thursday, too. Read a few transcripts from Twit/X:

Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY) posted on X:

Trump just cancelled a classified House briefing on the Iran strikes with zero explanation. The real reason? He claims he destroyed “all nuclear facilities and capability;” his team knows they can’t back up his bluster and BS.

Immediately after the strikes, Trump claimed the nuclear facilities were “completely and totally obliterated.” He lied. And likely still doesn’t fully know the BDA. What he does know is that an unsuccessful strike DRAMATICALLY increases the chance Iran races to break out.

Senate Democratic Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said:

This last-minute postponement is outrageous, evasive, and derelict. Senators deserve full transparency, and the administration has a legal obligation to inform Congress precisely about what is happening. What is the administration so afraid of? Why won’t they engage with Congress on the critical details: the results of the recent strike, the scope and trajectory of this conflict, the administration’s long-term strategy to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, and the potential risks facing American citizens and our servicemembers?

To be abundantly clear: neither Pete Hegseth nor Marco Rubio were scheduled to attend this briefing.

The conflict in the Middle East escalated 13 days ago, when Israel launched a military offensive against Iran, in an escalation of violence that ultimately led to the US military’s involvement.

On Tuesday, after a few false starts that enraged the president, Trump confirmed that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, which he claimed would hold despite both sides earlier accusing each other of new missile launches.

As you heard, Iran said that they weren’t presented with a ceasefire agreement. This is Trump doing MAGA fan fiction. And it may play well to the MAGAs. But not to the adults running their countries in other parts of the world. They regard Trump as a moron and they are right. A CNN reporter interviewed people in the streets of Tehran after the bunker buster last Saturday and normal people there said, “There’s nobody dirtier than Trump.” I concur. It’s tragic to have to agree, but it’s true nevertheless. Back to the holding of the alleged “ceasefire:”

Asked how he could be so sure, [the ceasefire would hold] the president told reporters: “They’re tired of it. I think they don’t want it to happen again. And Iran’s not going to have a nuclear weapon by the way; I think it’s the last thing on their mind right now.”

“They’re not going to have enrichment, and they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon, and they know that,” he said on his way to the NATO summit in the Netherlands.

This sounds as asinine as Trump telling Zelensky, to his face no less, “you don’t have the cards.” Then Zelensky began to kick Russia’s butt.

Midnight Hammer was a flop. And let me end on this note: I’ve read speculations that “Midnight Hammer” is a diss of Pete Hegseth, who is always hammered, midnight, noon, you name it. The mission title was meant as an in joke, to laugh at Hegseth. I don’t know if it’s true, but it’s a fitting diss, don’t you agree?
