There is a real perversity to the way we live life nowadays. What you’re about to see is a two-minute video and it’s a tear jerker, be forewarned. I started to tear up. But when I went into the comments section, there were right-wing accounts saying that this “starving kid looks like he could have his own show on Nickelodeon.” War is hell. That is not a phrase that was invented yesterday. And if you don’t want to believe the kid, maybe you shouldn’t believe his father, either, who says that people turn into “monsters” when there’s not enough to eat. That is indeed the case. Food is basic. If you don’t have enough water and enough food, shit gets real and fast. And people will turn into animals to stay alive.
Upsetting video of a boy in Gaza saying they have to eat sand because they have no food. He walked eight hours to a food distribution point and collected two kilos of flour but was robbed by thieves. pic.twitter.com/iGGcI6KagG

Here’s the simple reality of this situation: even if this video was “fake” and I have no reason to believe it is, travesties like this happen in war all the time. This is normal for a war zone, people fighting, even killing one another to get something to eat. I recall reading a story where Anne Frank had been taken to a concentration camp and a friend on the outside tried to throw her some bread in a sock, over the fence. Somebody else grabbed the sock and ate the bread and Anne Frank burst out into hysterical tears. This is what people become in time of war and for anybody to doubt it, marks them either as a sociopath, or totally out of touch with basic human nature. Now this will blow your mind. CNN presents this child eating sand as undeniable proof that there’s no flour or food in Gaza.
Since CNN clearly acted in good faith and didn’t mean to mislead anyone, let’s just show what’s open right around the corner from that scene.

You get the message. Either these people are destitute and in a war zone OR there are plenty of chic restaurants and the restaurants have got all the flour — and meat, and vegetables and booze — that one can possibly need. I don’t know. I am sure that something this controversial will be subject to a Snopes or PolitiFact check soon, because you can’t have something on social media be this black and white and both be true.
I would believe that in another part of Gaza, not necessarily “around the corner” that there is some place that is not as affected, but I seriously doubt if people are going out for fancy frozen drinks and exotic pastry everywhere.
We do need to know the truth. This is calling CNN a bald faced liar and if that can be proven, then they need to be out of business and stat. A news agency’s first responsibility is to get the facts straight. Beyond that, a media outlet should provide context, in the way of opinion and editorials. But if you can’t even get the basic facts straight, then you are not a news organization.
Another tragedy in the jaded age of Trump. And definitely one to keep a sharp eye on.

So now we don’t trust CNN international news reporting?
We’ve wandered so far from the truth, with all their relentless gaslighting, we can no longer see it.
Taking our ability to discern the truth from us is their greatest crime.
Well, I read on a different news site several days ago that dozens of Palestinians were shot by Israeli forces while trying to get to a food distribution site. Doesn’t sound like they were just strolling to the deli “just around the corner”.
Well, one would need to afford these restaurant items. Don’t think that the restaurateurs are giving it away for free.
Okay, so everyone claiming there’s a humanitarian crisis in Gaza when in fact Palestinians are clubbing and enjoying fine dining has been gaming us. Got it!
