The mob boss is not happy today. He’s on his way out of town early, having begrudged federal workers their right to a holiday yesterday. But that comes as no surprise, hypocrisy is the chief attribute of this misadministration of government that we live under. What has Trump totally flummoxed these days is the fact that he can’t bully the rest of the world. He’s been successful at bullying a broken, jaded GOP, and he’s been great at bullying the corporate media, academia, the courts, all kinds of institutions. But other nations will do what other nations will do — and now it appears that none other than Mike Pompeo and Lindsey Graham are taking the side of the enemy.

I confess to great amusement that Lindsey Graham has taken steps which put him out of sorts with Trump. That is somewhat amazing. Maybe Graham wakes up in the middle of the night after having had a nightmare about burning in eternal hellfire for siding with Trump, and maybe he’s got some semblance of a conscience left. I think that’s a long shot but maybe.

He is gone. What’s really happening here, though, is I think he just can’t stand taking any more questions and he wants to play golf. To him this is all a photo op and after a while it’s nothing but a pain in the ass. The fact that global stability and a new regional war is on the horizon is not of importance to him. This is all reality TV. We’ll end it here with my favorite for the day.

OMFG. Fantasy. Sheer fantasy.

Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize was done by a right-wing lawmaker from Norway, Christian Tybring-Gjedde. This was the same year that Jared Kushner got nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by Alan Dershowitz. (Then again by Lee Zeldin, the following year.) This was when the Trump family evidently decided that since they could have the presidency, they could have anything else that they wanted, earned or not. These are the ravings of the day, three and a half more years to go.

  1. Trumpler will never rest as long as he hasn’t got the prize the Nobel Foundation presented to President Obama. He hasn’t figured out (never will) that you actually have to DO something to garner one of those prestigious prizes. It’s not enough to stamp your foot and bawl that you want one.

    • Yes. Awards are AWARDED for achievements, not bloviating mindlessly.

It’s also why he doesn’t have a Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, or a Tony.

He hasn’t achieved or accomplished anything.

Unlike Obama, who has been awarded ALL of these.

Because he earned them, because he accomplishes things.

    • Well, in fairness, when Obama got his Nobel Peace Prize, he really hadn’t DONE anything. He was nominated just a couple of weeks after being sworn into office. Literally, he’d done NOTHING to merit a nomination. And the Nobel Committee made pretty statements about the things he’d done by October of 2009–mostly in the way of speeches–as the reason why they selected him, but basically all he’d done was essentially the equivalent of campaign promises.
Obama did note the slight irony/hypocrisy in winning the award while he was the Commander-in-Chief of a military engaged in two major active military actions but I still think the Committee was premature in awarding him the Prize.

  2. I’ve got a feeling a lot of people will be shocked at the idea that Henry Kissinger was a “liberal” (he was the Nobel Peace Prize recipient in 1973, along with North Vietnam’s Le Duc Tho). Or that Menachem Begin was a “liberal” (he was the Nobel Peace Prize recipient in 1978, along with Egypt’s Anwar Sadat).
But, Drumpf doesn’t actually want to do the work for anything of merit. Has he been given any honorary degrees by any universities or other institutes of higher learning? Those are usually given away by schools for the flimsiest of reasons and few actually require the recipient to do any actual work for that degree (unlike the actual work–exams, research papers, dissertations–that real students have to do to get their degrees).
