Wow. This just rolled into Twitter and there’s not a lot of detail available, although I suspect that this story will hit big. The place is Washington, D.C., and an 80-year-old man is zip tied and being led away by cops. The gentleman has an uneven gait, which tells me that putting him in restraints is insane on the face of it. So if this is what is happening on the eve of No Kings and the big fascist parade, this is not a good omen.

There is rumor on Twitter that the man “jumped a barrier” but that seems highly unlikely given how normal walking seems difficult for him. This is one story that we will stay on top of and update. But this is what happens in Trump’s America, 80-year-old veterans arrested, United States senators knocked to the ground and handcuffed.

The guy who posted this claims Reuters as his source. That’s a highly reliable source. Again, I don’t know how much credence to put in this because the Marines were ostensibly called in as back up to the police and not, emphatically not to do the work of law enforcement. Again, this is a story worth following up on.
And this is in less than five months in office. This is why I think tomorrow will be a turning point. America is already sick of this.

To Frump, just another ‘Sucker and Loser’.
That was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen. They arrested a VETERAN, for infringing on tRump’s parade *route*. What the hell is the matter with them?
They’re nazi brownshirts serving the same role: round up and lock up anyone who disagrees with the king. It took Putin 20 years to first lock up a member of the opposition party. It only took trump less than five months. And everyone thought I overused the term ‘nazi’. How’s it look now?
Not “everyone” thought you were over-using “Nazi” when referring to the scum infesting the MAGAt asylum. Most of us agreed but would extend it to every one of the Republican congress creatures who enable and condone this affront to all the values we espouse as Americans. And to all the denizens of rightwing media who proselytize Trump’s abhorrent policies and practices. Amazing how many have slithered out from under their rocks in a mere 5 months.

It looks like the guy that was arrested uses a walker. At first one of Trumpty’s ‘bigly badass brave boyz’ was taking the thing away. (to toss it in a dumpster?) My bet is that given how difficult it was for the man to walk (more like shuffle along) they decided to take it back to him, probably to have him sit in it so they could use it as a wheelchair. As a Veteran who uses a cane in my apartment and if I go a short distance down the hall, and a walker when I have to leave the building (and sometimes even in the apt. building on rough days) I can say this – these things are NOT meant to be used as wheelchairs. In fact you get warned specifically not to go rolling around in them because they simply aren’t strong enough in construction to be used that way!
So they probably, because the crowd had shamed him sat the guy in his walker to wheel him away. It looks like it would have been for a pretty good distance which means they might have wound up breaking the guy’s walker – and they aren’t cheap!
This is vile. Disgusting.
As for the guy Marines arrested in LA, as a jarhead I’m furious Coomandant Gen. Smith, Assistant Commandant Gen. Mahoney and Sgt. Major Ruiz didn’t all resign what was an illegal order to deploy active duty Marines to the streets of a city, much less allow them to conduct actual arrests. I only found out a couple of days ago there was a VA medical clinic in that small area that’s been the focus of all this bullshit. I wondered how long it would take before we had the prospect of federalized National Guard troops, or worse Marines doing exactly what’s happened here – arresting someone on their way to or from a medical appt. I know I’d have some ‘colorful comments’ for troops taking part in being one of Trumpty’s fascist goons if they were guarding a medical place in the Raleigh area where I live (have an appt. at a VA Clinic come Tuesday as a matter of fact so who knows?) and might find myself in zip ties and shuffling along like this guy.
I’ve heard anecdotal reports of troops (including one from Texas) making comments about having signed up to support the Constitution and NOT doing this kind of shit.
