One normal step for Trump, one gigantic leap into the chasm of authoritarianism for America. Elon Musk is a private citizen and as such, a sitting president openly threatening the man with “serious consequences” should he seek to fund Democratic candidates in 2026, is nothing short of the words of a dictator. And this is certain to inflame Elon and his reply is certain to be, in poker parlance, seeing Trump and raising him quite a bit. We are in for some strange ride here. NBC News:
President Donald Trump on Saturday said there would be “serious consequences” if tech mogul Elon Musk funds Democratic candidates to run against Republicans who vote in favor of the GOP’s sweeping budget bill.
“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump told NBC News in a phone interview, but declined to share what those consequences would be. “He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that,” he added.
Not only serious consequences but “very serious” ones. Hoe kay. I can see Elon telling Donald to go find a Dragon space vehicle on Ebay or better yet, call Jeff Bezos and see if he’s able to cobble something together, because Elon will fer shure cripple the space program if that’s what it takes to get attention.
And make no mistake, Elon loves being back in the spotlight. He languished, he mourned, he festered, when he was in silent running mode for a few months and nobody was paying attention to him. Now he’s back in the public eye, front and center, and the mainstream media is flooded with his image and audio clips. He’s happy as a pig in mud. He’s got a public forum to take Trump down in, and you and I are in the stands of the coliseum, watching these two dorks pretend to be gladiators.
The president also said he has no desire to repair his relationship with Musk after a feud between the two men erupted into public view earlier this week.
“No,” Trump said when asked if he had any wish to do so.
Asked if he thought his relationship with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO was over, Trump said, “I would assume so, yeah.”
Trump’s comments were the most extensive since he and Musk exchanged threats and attacks on X and Truth Social earlier this week. He added that he thought the Republican Party was more unified than ever after the two men fell out in front of the world.
Trump said he has no plans to speak with Musk anytime soon. “I’m too busy doing other things,” he said, adding, “I have no intention of speaking to him.”
Trump also accused Musk of being “disrespectful to the office of the President.”
“I think it’s a very bad thing, because he’s very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the President,” he added.
Disrespectful to the office of the President translates as “how dare he not kiss my ass when and how I say?” Nobody disgraces the office of the President like Trump has and does on a daily basis.
Musk on Thursday launched a barrage of posts on X against the president, including a now-deleted post highlighting the onetime links between the president and the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“That’s called ‘old news,’ that’s been old news, that has been talked about for years,” Trump said on Saturday. “Even Epstein’s lawyer said I had nothing to do with it. It’s old news.”
The disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa is old news, too, but don’t think it wouldn’t be screaming, big font headlines if something occurred to solve that mystery. Same with Amelia Earhart, Judge Crater, Jack the Ripper, we could go on. A mystery and a scandal are a mystery and a scandal and people are always dying to have resolution no matter how much time has gone by.
Musk is already winning this feud. He’s got what he came for, which is attention and publicity. As time goes by, he’ll continue to get attention and publicity. The only thing, I believe, keeping Musk from stating his own presidential run is the blessed fact that he wasn’t born in this country. Musk intends to take Trump down and the GOP is collateral damage.
