This is only the beginning. You have two malignant narcissists with money and power and they’re going after one another. I would make an analogy to the titans of mythology but what we’re really dealing with here are a couple of overgrown and overblown gerbils, one born to great wealth and the other with an uncanny eye to taking over other peoples’ businesses and winning at them. Neither one of them is an original thinker, both are opportunists like the world has never seen. Elon Musk intended politics to be his next business acquisition and for a while it looked like all that was panning out just fine. Not such much now. Here’s the latest in the Musk/Trump break up.
Elon Musk said Thursday his aerospace company SpaceX will ground Dragon, the spacecraft NASA uses to service the International Space Station amid his falling out with President Trump.
“In light of the President’s statement about cancellation of my government contracts,
@SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately,” Musk said Thursday on X, the social media platform he purchased in 2022.
Musk’s post included a screenshot of Trump’s threat to scrap billions of dollars in federal contracts and subsidies the tech mogul’s companies receive.
SpaceX describes Dragon as “the only spacecraft currently flying that is capable of returning significant amounts of cargo to Earth, and is the first private spacecraft to take humans to the space station.”
The decommissioning of Dragon could pose a serious threat to the Trump administration’s ability to bring astronauts and cargo back and forth between the space station and Earth.
And of course that’s the idea, to rattle technological sabers and to make Trump come to heel. Birds of a feather flock together and right now birds of a feather are attempting to peck each others eyes out. Wait for it to get nuttier. This is only Day One. And this isn’t helping matters, either.

Musk went to great lengths last year to discredit and cripple Blue Origin. He just had too much influence with NASA and convinced them it wasn’t safe to allow the astronauts who flew the first mission to the space station to come back in it. It made a nice campaign issue for Trump which was part of what Musk wanted but his real goal was to so damage Blue Origin with NASA as to make his Space X the only ticket. Something tells me talks are resuming between NASA and Blue Origin.
This move on Musk’s part might move things towards what I suggested elsewhere today – Trump attempting to ‘nationalize’ Space X justifying it on national security grounds like Truman tried to do with the Railroads. No Interstate Highway System back then and with the Cold War starting the railroads were arguably vital to being able to swiftly move people and heavy equipment in great amounts both quickly and cheaply. SCOTUS shot down Truman. Trump could, if his turning DOJ into his personal law firm hadn’t driven out the best of its lawyers be able to make a much better case with Space X. He’s got by far the most ability to deliver military satellites into orbit. His control over telecommunications goes well beyond Starlink. He can screw over any country he wants. In fact he’s briefly done so at times!
More and more I think we are headed towards an epic court battle. What THIS particular SCOTUS will do is anyone’s guess.
I really wish people would stop giving Bannon so much attention.
He’s a CRIMINAL who should be behind bars for decades (just like that overblown Mr Hankey who paints his face orange) rather than someone with access to the occupant of the White House.
One thing Musk never took into account is, that once Turmp gets what he wants from you, He no longer has any use for you.
