The difference between Donald Trump and other politicians we have seen in life, is that the other politicians at least make a studied effort to appear gracious and diplomatic. It goes with the turf, particularly in a democracy where the party in power has the assurance of being the party out of power at some point, and vice versa. So inherently, it’s a good idea to be a team player and not demonize the other side overmuch.
Trump, of course, has broken all these rules because his entire appeal in 2016 was that government could be run better by rank amateurs. There is no other profession where you could have sold this basic premise. Nobody wants an amateur surgeon working on them, or an amateur pilot flying the plane. This doesn’t exist. But Trump managed to convince people that his fantasy persona from the TV set could run the government better than seasoned legislators. And he killed over 1.1 million Americans during his first term. Who knows what the scoreboard will be for this term?
Joe Biden was recently diagnosed with cancer. Somebody in Trump’s camp set out the obligatory message of good will from both he and Melania. But it was a phony baloney communique, not surprisingly. Here’s the truth.

The ensuing Twitter thread is filled with angry MAGAs saying that this is out of context and he wasn’t talking about Joe’s cancer, it’s fake news, Trump being framed again, bla bla. All that misses the point. The point is that he’s demonizing Biden and whether that was in direct response to a comment about Biden’s cancer is irrelevant. Trump simply won’t bury the hatchet. That’s the issue. Biden is in his eighties and has stage four prostate cancer. He deserves to be left alone by the wolf pack and live the rest of his life in peace, whether it’s a few years from now or another twenty years.
But this is vintage MAGA. They expend massive amounts of energy playing prosecuting attorney and pleading Trump’s case when the fact is, these kinds of comments would never come out of the mouth of Reagan or either of the Bushs, or anybody decent in the GOP. John McCain or Mitt Romney would never have made these comments. They would have let it go, in deference for Biden’s service and out of respect for his present health condition.
Trump can’t let the demonization of Biden go. The only thing that has gotten Trump where he is — other than hitting the chord of racism that runs so deep in American culture — is his continuous vilification of the other side. And you don’t need to be Freud to figure out that the vilification is a distraction from Trump’s own incompetence.
Trump is a vicious, childish, petty, immature, undeveloped, paranoid, vengeful, vulgar, cheap, worthless excuse for a human being — let alone a politican, let alone a president. This clip is prima facie evidence of that.
But MAGA will never accept that truth about Trump, even though it is glaringly evident. MAGA has its blinders on. And when Trump disgraces himself, like he does here, then MAGAs focus is on the framework of the video, the intent of the video, every single thing other than the plain simple language of the video — which is disparaging and cruel.
Trump wasn’t set up or framed here. This is who he is. What a tragedy we live in a country where so many people are tuned out from politics and voting and half of the people who do vote, don’t have the capacity to see this monster for who and what he is.

Friends, if you are able to contribute to keep the site running, we would appreciate it. I’ve had health issues lately and needs must go out for testing, visits to specialists, all that. So I can’t put the time in that I used to, at least until all this stabilizes. If you can help, it would be terrific. If not, keep coming to read and we thank you for being here. Ursula

You forgot “dangerous” in your excellent list of tRump’s non-redeeming qualities.
Yes, all depressingly true, except you do all keep claiming that he was solely responsible for *all* US Covid deaths: “And he killed over 1.1 million Americans during his first term.”
He no doubt contributed to the number being as high as it was, but (using the figures in the link below) the US was ‘only’ around 10% worse than the other worst-performing ‘Western’ countries (Belgium, Italy, & UK) in terms of proportions of people who died – all without Trumpty’s crass desperately-macho infused ‘leadership’. Those macho attitudes pervade US society more than in other such countries, too, I would assume.
