Yea, this makes sense, y’all. *Someone* is taking out his temper on Chinese *students*. They have nothing to do with their leaders. So, what’s the point of it? There isn’t one. It’s just the latest (stupid) hot air from our excuse for a president. I doubt it’s going to make any difference to President Xi. Why should it? He’s not a student.

These people worked hard to come over here to learn. They *wanted* to come here. And this is the reward they get? How many of them are in the middle of their schooling? They won’t get to finish. Does China even *have* the equivalent in schools? What about research positions? I doubt it. They might not have chosen to come over here if there was. From CNN:

The United States will “aggressively revoke visas for Chinese students,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Wednesday in a major escalation of tensions with Beijing, and another blow to American higher education institutions.

The plan was met with strong opposition from China, which said on Thursday it had lodged a formal protest with the US over what it called a “politically motivated and discriminatory” move.

The revocations will target Chinese students including “those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields,” Rubio said.

“We will also revise visa criteria to enhance scrutiny of all future visa applications from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong,” he said, noting that the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security would work together on the visa revocations.

Politically motivated and discriminatory, all right. Call it like they see it, and it’s the *truth*. This is so low and petty, I want to scream. That’s the point. I bet it has to do with the tariff war with China. This could very well be something to deflect away from the fact that there is still a battle and tRump is losing. He is also losing the battles against schools, thank you, judges!

The surprise announcement risks disrupting ongoing efforts by the US and China to de-escalate tensions, coming just weeks after both sides declared a 90-day truce over punishing tariffs on each other’s goods, and deepens the spiraling confrontation between President Donald Trump and the nation’s top universities.

Rubio’s comments follow a series of extraordinary steps by the Trump administration to deter foreign students from studying in the US – from ordering embassies to pause new student visa appointments to revoking Harvard University’s ability to enroll international students. (A federal judge later halted the Harvard ban.)

The latest move is set to spark consternation and outrage in China, the country of origin for almost a quarter of international students in US higher education. It’s also likely to deepen anxiety across American universities, where Chinese and other international students are a significant source of revenue.

This is BULLPOOP. Yes, they’re a source of revenue. But again, more than that, they came here to *learn*. The money is a bonus, I think. However, I can understand the anxiety. How about this, from CNN:

Candy, a statistics student at the University of Michigan, who did not want to give her full name, said she feared her visa would be canceled before she graduates.

“Ending up with only a high school diploma is something I dread,” she said from China, where she’s visiting family. “I pray to make it through my undergraduate study safely and smoothly.”

“When I first heard the news, I wanted to curse Trump.”

Curse away, young lady. He deserves it and more. When he gets an idea in his head, he forces action and won’t change it, like a dog with a particularly meaty bone. *This* isn’t a meaty bone. It’s vindictive and trivial. He apparently thinks it will make a difference to the Chinese government. In this battle, I’m not sure it will. Instead, we lose students and researchers, and good minds, and yes, revenue. There’s no point. There just isn’t. I don’t think any of them will read this, but I want to apologize for our president. I am so, so sorry. Thanks for sticking with me!

Friends, we’re in a dark passage here. We started losing traffic last November, when the entire country got fed up with politics. Added to that have been my health problems over the past two months. We’re falling behind financially. If you can help in any way, it would be appreciated. I’m doing my best to get back in the saddle again. Thank you. Ursula

  1. My god, you’re all over the place. First you say that it “won’t make any difference to Xi, why would it?” Later you write that it’s been reported that “this is sure to spark consternation and outrage in China”
Those poor little students just trying to learn…hahaha
You failed to mention the reason for the heightened scrutiny. Credible evidence of spying and stealing of intellectual property for many years. But I shouldn’t expect an America hater like you to care or even know about that.
