It’s unfortunate that this got captured on video but nowadays everything is subject to being videoed. We’re all carrying around both still and movie cameras in our pockets. That’s the norm in 2025. Plus, if you’re a celebrity or a politician, you’ve got professional photographers targeting you at any moment and they’re looking for the offbeat. That’s how they make money. So this is the scandal du jour, Brigitte Macron evidently expressing some disdain, or hostility, towards her husband Emmanuel, the President of France, as they land in Vietnam.
This is one of those stories where the “why” is the entire piece. But that’s the part of the puzzle that we’re not likely to get.

The president quickly recovers and waves to the cameras. As the couple exits the aircraft, Brigitte Macron declines to take her husband’s arm.
The president later insisted that his wife had been joking.
“We are horsing around and, really, joking with my wife,” he said, according to CBS News. “It becomes a sort of geo-planetary catastrophe.”
An associate of the president described the incident as a “squabble.”
“It was a moment when the president and his wife were decompressing one last time before the start of the trip by joking around,” one source claimed.
“It’s a moment of togetherness. No more was needed to feed the mills of the conspiracy theorists,” the person added, noting that pro-Russian voices had made negative comments about the interaction.
The Macrons have an unconventional relationship, to say the very least. Brigitte was a teacher of Emmanuel. That’s how they met. She was 40 and he was 15 (and the age of consent in France is 15.) She was also married, which spices it up. Emmanuel is a young 47 and his wife is 72, now. The age difference is basically the same as the one between Donald and Melania Trump, although I do believe that this was a relationship of passion, certainly at the beginning. Nobody sane would get into a relationship with a kid (or a teacher) unless there was some real primal drive behind it — at least that’s my take. And that was over thirty years ago, so there is something of substance here. It was more than a fling.
Certainly it’s true that no two people see eye to eye 100% of the time. But whatever the mix up here, it was not good that it was caught on camera.
Trump, of course, will absolutely love this. It will take the focus away from his own screwed up faux marriage, the optics of which are constantly getting recorded.

That’s beyond a “May to September” marriage! No wonder tRump thought she was hot! She’s almost his age! I’m racking my brains trying to imagine what he said to her. Instead of slapping him, she could have kept him after class and had him work hard. In fact, that’s how the whole thing got started! 🫢
