I have zero sympathy for anything that happens to J.D. Vance. He’s the architect of his own adversity. Usha, on the other hand, can be depicted as more the innocent because she’s basically going along for the ride. J.D. got her into this and she’s probably trying to make the best of a bad bargain. That said, at the very least she was complicit in the mess in Greenland. Trump’s comments about manifest destiny extending to Greenland, which were then echoed by Vance, were alienating. And if Usha didn’t see that plain reality in front of her face, then she may not be as smart as her educational credentials would lead us to believe.

JD Vance, 40, has invited a considerable amount more media attention and scrutiny than many of his predecessors. A speech at the Munich Security Conference criticising European countries for “curtailing free speech” generated headlines in February, and he was perhaps the central figure in the antagonistic encounter with President Zelensky of Ukraine in the Oval Office later that month.
This is basically a puff piece and was intended as such. I think it would have been more interesting if a few “why” questions were asked. Usha speaks of getting booed at the Kennedy Center and blames reporters “in search of a narrative.” No, that’s not the case. Trump came in and laid waste to the Board of the Kennedy Center and that was met with resentment. Rightfully so. The Kennedy Center is a venerated cultural institution. Usha is on the Board and maybe she should not have accepted the post if she didn’t want the blowback that goes with it.
Also, the Greenland fiasco is glossed over. You can’t openly insult a country and threaten to invade it, and then expect the inhabitants to welcome you with open arms. That issue doesn’t get addressed in the puff piece.
If there’s one trait that Usha shares with hubby, it’s advanced tone deafness. J.D. Vance comported himself like a complete swine in the White House with Volodymyr Zelensky. That’s on record to his everlasting shame. No amount of softsoaping or complaints about media “narratives” is going to wash that away. Of the two, Usha is the more sympathetic, but that’s not saying a lot when the other party is a hypocrite on the level of J.D. Vance.
Enjoy it all while it lasts, Usha. Just bear in mind, Everything Trump Touches Dies. It’s not a matter of if, only when.

He is also the poster child for fascism and toxic masculinity. Let’s see how he fits the pathology, shall we? Daddy left me (physically or just neglect). Mommy was either too busy or on substances. The system or family that raised me was worthy only of my abuse toward them. Re-invent myself with the help of people I have duped (wife) and/or people who have duped me (hopefully a hugely rich patron like Peter Thiel). Work out my insecurities and resulting anger and lack of self-control on the backs of everyone else; the whole world if possible (but mostly women because THEY made me incel regardless of marital status). Maybe have a family for appearances sake, but repeat on my family the cycle of abuse and neglect that I experienced. Increase my hate (especially against women) until I have nothing else but my hate and my cohort of other haters. Die, alone, from the health issues my hate created, or by the violence of my detractors who finally ousted my sorry ass from their planet!! Did I miss anything?! Most of it has already happened, the last bit has a real good chance of happening if he stays in the fascist regime!
