MTG has come back to life??!! Y’know, she’s been pretty quiet lately. Well, not anymore! (And she’s really, *really* bleached her hair again – it almost looks white!) Apparently she disagrees with a bill that was trying to be passed to give expecting and new moms the ability to vote as needed by proxy. Seems fine, right? It would just be for a couple months, if that. You can’t expect someone to come back with a *newborn*.
Well. Ms. Greene did not approve. BOY did she not approve! Here we go. A little background first: Two fervent supporters are fighting for Trump’s favor in the House. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is slamming Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) for voting with Democrats to advance a Tuesday resolution allowing new parents in Congress to vote by proxy. Got that? Quite a spat between the two of them.
The week-long sparring match reached a new level when Greene demanded Luna resign with a string of insults, according to the Daily Beast. Greene tweeted: “Poor Anna, you are being used by the Democrats to bring back proxy voting when you are clearly, in your own words, against people receiving taxpayer funded paychecks working from home,” Greene wrote on X. “In the 117th Congress (you weren’t with us yet because you had lost your election) Speaker Pelosi allowed proxy voting. And it became the Democrats greatest tool to accomplish their agenda.” Ok, you may not, but I think that’s excessive. Democrats greatest tool? I have no idea what she’s talking about and I’m a liberal. It could be if I try to remember something involving Ms. Greene my brain overloads trying to parse it and I forget. Ha. And Speaker Emeritus Pelosi stepped down literally *years* ago.
“Serving in Congress is a privilege, not a career choice,” Greene added. “If you need a job with better perks like maternity leave, then step down and allow someone else to serve in your place.” Whaaaaaat? Good grief. Of course, we all know how extreme MTG is. She’s just getting worse and worse. And this is one of the people running our country? At least, thank heavens, she’s only one voice. And guess what? It gets worse.
Greene argued that some Moms may not be fit for politics or some jobs specifically because they are moms. “As a mom, I know all about seasons of life. If you aren’t capable of doing the job your constituents sent you to do, then you should step aside and let someone else do it,” she ranted on X, which drew rancor from other mothers. (I would absolutely detest having her as a mom *shudder*.) “So are you saying if a woman in Congress has an unplanned pregnancy, she needs to step down? Really? This is what we teach our daughters? We can’t take a few weeks?” demanded one post.
Luna responded on X today asking why a vote-by-proxy opponent like Greene would vote by proxy while on “vacation” in 2022. She also attached Greene’s December 19, 2022 request to vote by proxy to House clerk Cheryl Johnson. TOUCHE. And here’s the cherry on top. Remember that vote I mentioned at the beginning of this piece? That vote, with the help of Luna and nine other House Republicans, nabbed a rare win for Democrats this week by bringing the vote against proxy vote to a halt and sending Republicans home for the week. The vote revealed Republican’s thin House majority as well as the fleeting power of Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) to whip Republicans together. Hey, MTG? Bite me, b*tch.
One other thing I’d like to mention. Shortly after this, Rep Luna added, “With a heavy heart, I am resigning from the Freedom Caucus. I cannot remain part of a caucus where a select few operate outside its guidelines, misuse its name, broker backroom deals that undermine its core values and where the lines of compromise and transaction are blurred, disparage me to the press, and encourage misrepresentation of me to the American people,” Luna wrote.
*****And now, please read a very special request from our awesome boss******
Zoomers, if you have any spare change, please, we could use it. We are now entering month five of Trump Depression Syndrome, the moniker given to the phenomenon of a lot of Democrats tuning out from politics to save their sanity. I understand and respect that. I also know that somebody has to stay on the front lines, or there won’t be an army left to fight this war. So, that’s us. Please, we could use your help. And thank you for coming here to read about all the events. Ursula

Hypocrisy does not register in the maga-mind, it’s just not a thing. I’m grateful for many things in my life, but every time I find myself being enlightened by the wisdom of traitor greene, I’m thankful I share no connections or blood with her.
