Mark this day in history well. The sitting president of the United States declared on the nation’s oldest running television news show that he “was not joking” about running for a third term in 2028, even though that is prohibited by the Constitution and the 22nd Amendment. In normal days, a president making such a bizarre declaration would have been headline news. But this is 2025 and Trump is back in office and evidently no claim that he can make is so strange that it’s picked up by the mainstream media. Or, worse yet, when they do report on it, it’s to normalize it. Brian Steler posted a transcript on Twit/X of Trump’s Bizarro World Meet the Press interview Sunday moring:
KRISTEN WELKER: So, when you’re jo – I know you’re joking about this, but I’ve been talking to a lot of your allies. They say they’re very serious. You know, I talked to Steve Bannon on the record, quite frankly. So, I can just tell you. I mean, he says he’s, you know, really seriously looking at potential plans that would allow you to serve a third term.
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: Well, let me put it this way. You have to start by saying, I have the highest poll numbers of any Republican for the last 100 years. We’re in the high 70s in many polls, in the real polls, and you see that. And, and you know, we’re very popular. And you know, a lot of people would like me to do that. But, I mean, I basically tell them, we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.
KRISTEN WELKER: So, but I don’t hear you ruling – like, in a very serious way, do you rule that out? Are you like, I can’t serve a third term, it’s unconstitutional? What’s your thinking around it?
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: A lot of people want me to do it. But we have – my thinking is, we have a long way to go. I’m focused on the current.
KRISTEN WELKER: Have you been presented with any potential plans that would allow you to serve a third term?
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: Well, there are plans. There are – not plans. There are, there are methods which you could do it, as you know.
KRISTEN WELKER: Basic– Well, let me throw out one where Vice President Vance would run for office and then would, basically, if, if you – if he won, at the top of the ticket, would then pass the baton to you.
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: Well, that’s one. But there are others too. There are others.
KRISTEN WELKER: There are others? Can you tell me another?
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: No.
KRISTEN WELKER: Okay. So, but, but, sir, I’m hearing – you don’t sound like you’re joking. I’ve heard you joke about this a number of times.
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: No, no I’m not joking. I’m not joking –
KRISTEN WELKER: Yeah. Yeah.
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: But, I’m not – it is far too early to think about it.
KRISTEN WELKER: Okay. Okay. It’s too early to think about it, but you’re not –
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: – If people would like, and I hope you’re going to mention, I have the highest ratings of any Republican –
KRISTEN WELKER: Yep. Yeah–
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: – in 100 years.
KRISTEN WELKER: Yeah, yeah.
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: Nobody’s had ratings like this.
KRISTEN WELKER: Yeah. Do you – would you want to serve a third term, sir? That’s – it’s a lot of work. President is the toughest job there is. It’s the toughest job in the country. You think you have –
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: Well, I like working.
KRISTEN WELKER: Yeah.
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: I like working, so, you know.
KRISTEN WELKER: Well, you, you–
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: Unlike sleepy Joe, unlike sleepy Joe.
KRISTEN WELKER: Would you, would you – you wouldn’t want to pass the baton to Vice President Vance?
PRES. DONALD TRUMP: Oh I may – It’s too early –
KRISTEN WELKER: Too early –
Donald doesn’t intend to relinquish power. We saw that with great clarity on January 6, 2021. That was the takeaway that day. He cajoled Mike Pence into breaking the law, and Pence dutifully researched if there was any leg he had to stand on and came away with the answer “no.” So Pence did his job, according to the Constitution, and did not participate in the overthrow of the government.
That’s when the nasty tweets went out and the mob headed down the avenue, chanting, “Hang Mike Pence” and “Fuck Mike Pence.” You know the rest, about Pence fleeing the Capitol on foot but refusing to get into the car provided for him to presumably flee the city limits. I thought it was prudent of Pence to not get into the car because who knows what might have happened then? It was an insane day in America.
And Trump intends for the rest of America’s days to be insane. The good news is that he’ll be 79 in a few months, on June 14, and he’s morbidly obese, with a terrible diet. So nature may take Donald out long before the electorate does.
But this fantasy world he lives in is shocking. There is no poll where he is getting numbers anywhere near 70% — except in his mind. That’s the place the “real polls” exist, between his ears. Anyplace else his polls are underwater.

Vance cannot “transfer” the presidency to Trump. That’s completely against the law. What I think Trump will try is some kind of a martial law stunt. He’ll create an emergency to stay in power. Or, at least now that is what he’s contemplating and what he didn’t want to share with Welker. That’s the “method” under consideration.

When people tell you who they are, believe them. Trump has let us all know loud and clear exactly who he is. It’s on us to take him at his word and stop him.

We may be forced into armed conflict at some point given what this criminal nazi has done in a little over two phuckkng months. You wonder why so many ‘christian’ Germans signed up for mass murder??? My sense of things, and I hope I’m right, is that Trump messing with Social Security and Medicare is the bridge too far. We’ve seen townhalls erupt over these very things. Trump has a delusion he has a “mandate” and he simply does not. And even if he had won by a huge margin, like Reagan over Mondale, destroying Social Security and Medicare still would not fly without a massive protest.
I agree Ursula. If these armed morons risked prison by storming congress, all based on a continuous propaganda campaign, can you imagine what happens when they come for their big truck because Muskrump stole their money from social security? Proud boys stand by and stand down…that is until momma is kicked out of the nursing home…then go to Mara Lago or the white house locked and loaded. Or maybe to the real president’s house…musk…the power behind the throne. History has shown time and again tyrants fall when the people get phucked with on a scale that reaches a tipping point. When the elected “leaders” refuse to serve, support or help the people who elected them, then we the people have one recourse and one only: take to the streets in sufficient numbers (and sufficiently armed) that the forces of the government can’t arrest or, worst case, shoot enough of us to stop us.
Apparently, unless a lot of rich movers and shakers get very busy, risking SOMETHING, we are rapidly finding the whole ‘nation of laws’ is a pea and shell game. The law is what the rich say it is no matter what evil they perpetrate on the 95% of us. We DO outnumber them many times over…but there are few warriors and many sheep. That could change. Maybe there are more true patriots than anyone can know without a crisis to bring them forth. This is far from over. Hitter’s thousand year third Reich lasted 12 years. We’re almost a decade into this culture war and fascist takeover. Unfortunately, when the Democrats had the chance…they wimped out…their lifestyles are just too goddamn cushy to put their asses on the line to save our republic. I guess you have to be a kid, drafted into a war you had no say in, nor want, be given a gun….and dumped on a beach with machine guns hunting you. Arlington National Cemetery is full of those heroes. Congress is full of cowards. In fact, this goddamn country is full of pampered fat cowards worrying more about their stomachs than our country. We actually do deserve hell…we voted to be let in.
