Once again we strain the already exploding You Can’t Make This $hit up file. We find ourselves in a world where actual developments are so improbable that if they showed up in a movie script you would simply groan and wonder if you should leave the movie early. But you can’t leave this movie early — well, unless you want to check out permanently and you need to stay here and fight Trump — so you just have to marvel. Today the “random judicial assignment fairy” as Katie Phang calls it, decided to assign the American Oversight lawsuit against Pete Hegseth and others to U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg. Trump already hates Boasberg because he’s the judge assigned to decide the legality of Trump invoking the Alien Enemies Act Of 1798 to deport alleged criminals to El Salvador. And yes, there is talk of a conspiracy afoot, there always is.

Trump, his White House staff, and some Republican lawmakers have accused Boasberg of being a member of the left and a Democrat. In fact, Boasberg was appointed by former President George H.W. Bush.

Republican Rep. Brandon Gill (TX) introduced articles of impeachment for the judge.

Election lawyer Andy Craig simply laughed at the assignment.

Legal analyst and MSNBC host Katie Phang quipped, “Gotta love the random judicial assignment fairy.”

She also remarked, “Judge Boasberg will dig his teeth into this.” She included a Blue Sky post from an individual who refers to themselves as a former CIA lawyer. The post shows the full message from Hegseth in the Signal chat and the rules for what is considered classified beside it.

“You really can’t script this. The same week the Trump admin invokes the state secrets privilege to deny Boasberg info, he is assigned the lawsuit over the Trump administration’s apparent carelessness with state secrets,” said Politico legal affairs reporter Kyle Cheney on X.

NBC News reporter Garrett Haake pointed to the assignment, saying, “In which all Washington news stories begin to converge into one massive singularity.”

Some on the MAGA side called it “ridiculous” and unbelievable, while others alleged a conspiracy was afoot.

Tit for tat, Donald. We had to deal with the rabidly biased Aileen Cannon being assigned the stolen documents case, now you can deal with Boasberg on the case of your SECDRUNK’s “epic fuck up” to quote Pete Buttigieg. And Steve Bannon will love this. It’s grist for his Deep State mill. He’s dancing a jig this morning over this development, trust me. Now he gets to play both ends against the middle and prepare for a post-Trump MAGA.

Just another development in the circus that is the U.S. government, circa 2025, where farce rules over facts and crisis is king.

    CLASSIFIED – El Salvador flights

    NOT Classified – Houti airstrikes

I think this judge just might make the connection. And, no, NOT “the connection” you missed at the airport for your next flight to Denver…

    • The comedy here is that even Republicans are saying that denial is the stupidest course of action. Smart people think Trump should just own this and throw Waltz under the bus. But then of course that would mean that Trump made a mistake in hiring Waltz. And his ego won’t allow it. But, the day may come when it’s easier to sacrifice Waltz and make Waltz the bad guy than to keep this going on. That’s where we are now.
