The new cartoon version of the United States government continues to unfold as Donald Trump stumbles through yet another day. Thursday was very unnerving for him. The New York Times got wind of the plot to have Elon Musk be briefed on what the war plans were, should a war with China develop. Naturally, Trump denied it, Musk wants to hang anybody and everybody who leaked the story, and every time Trump opened his mouth on Friday, he said something stupid that had the effect of ratifying the truth of what the Times was alleging. This is what Trump followed up with later Friday.

Um….so the Pentagon is the Department of War? Or the Department of Defense is the Department of War? Or there’s some other department new on the horizon that will carry that title? And if this isn’t asinine enough for you, Pete Hegseth glommed right on to it and he’s taking a poll to see about changing the Department of Defense’s name to Department of War.
Department of war!!!! Bro is @PeteHegseth drunk or on coke because no sober person can come up with shit like this

That encapsulates my thoughts. We have two adolescent boys in charge now, Donald and Pete, who think it’s just a really cool, bitchin’ game to talk about war and nukes and killing and all that. Hey, how soon can we get those F-47s in the air, shooting down stuff, when they’re not busy hovering like flying saucers?
The most recent Department of War was Winston Churchill’s doing back in WWII. Jon Meacham, the author of “Franklin and Winston,” a history of Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s friendship, suggested a Churchill quote that might be more apt to Trump’s situation: “The British people can face any misfortune w/ fortitude & buoyancy as long as they are convinced that those in charge of their affairs are not deceiving them, or are not dwelling in a fool’s paradise.”
I daresay that Americans feel the same way. But in our case, in the year 2025, we have people in charge of our affairs who do nothing but deceive us and who are total fools, dwelling in not only a fool’s paradise, but an evil paradise where hardworking people will suffer while there’s a massive upward wealth shift, enriching people who are already richer than God and have more than enough money for several lifetimes. But evidently, it’s not enough.
The Washington Post told us during Trump’s first administration,” Trump has long idolized Churchill, and his administration has often sought to link the president to the former British prime minister, as in June when White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany compared Trump’s order to forcibly clear protesters from a Washington church for a photo op to Churchill inspecting London bomb damage during World War II. The president did so again on Thursday. “When Hitler was bombing London, Churchill, a great leader, would oftentimes go to a roof in London and speak. And he always spoke with calmness. He said, ‘We have to show calmness,’ ” Trump said.
Absolutely. And there is nothing more calm or soothing than to hear the president of the United States screaming in all-caps on social media, or on the TV, about fake news, enemy of the people, Maggot Hagerman, you know his litany. It never changes, he’s a broken record of victimization.
Maybe Trump does idolize Churchill. Who knows? I find it hard to believe that Trump idolizes anybody beyond himself. This topic came up during Covid when Trump heard the phrase, “Keep calm and carry on,” which had been attributed to Churchill. The phrase was one of three created by a nascent Ministry of Information in 1939, along with the more ponderous “Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution; Will Bring Us Victory” and “Freedom is in Peril; Defend it with all Your Might.” Trump was just looking for a sloagn and to seem profound and worldly. So that’s as far as his knowledge and/or admiration of Churchill went.
Let’s see if the Department of Defense gets renamed the Department of War. And let’s see if Trump gets us into a war. Nothing is off the table with this crowd. Not one thing.

Oh, if only the Bulldog were still alive. I really doubt that #DrowsyDonnie would appreciate Churchill’s reaction to Drumpf’s “idolization” of him. There’s an old saying about “Never meet your idols” and Drumpf would most likely *NOT* appreciate Churchill’s assessment of Drumpf.
Churchill was not one to suffer fools and he would find Drumpf to be the greatest of fools (aside from all those who voted for him).
I’d settle for Thatcher, whom.I actually loathe Whatever yku can say about her, she was smart and competent and she’d have kicked Dementia Donnie’s pasty butt. She would either have laughed in his face or slapped it. These days British politicians with competence, creativith, courage,,and compassion are non-existent.
For anyone who needs a laugh:
“A good speech should be like a woman’s skirt: long enough to cover the subject and short enough to create interest.”
Someone should whisper he’s look the part in aboiler suit……
Trump.lacks the brains, the competence,,and the beauty of Winston.
Can anyone read that text of Rump’s and not think it’s typical of a demented 12-year-old? All the name calling is ridiculous. Grow up Donnie, and get some meds for that dementia!
One blinding difference between Churchill and Trump: Churchill actually served in the Military and saw combat. Sgt. Bonespurs claimed bone spurs.
