I hope that somebody at the GOP is awake and paying attention to what’s going on in the hinterland because to all appearances there are two camps in this country right now: the depressed Democrats and the angry Republicans, who are suffering from a bad case of buyer’s remorse. Both groups are disillusioned. And a disillusioned electorate spells Danger! Will Robinson! for the party in power.
Trump may go on about his illusionary “mandate” but he has no such thing. And whatever advantage he gained by winning the election by the slight percentage that he did, does not give him carte blanche to wreck the government. And that is the message that Republican constituents are sending to their elected Republican Reps.
Townhalls all over the country have been exploding. Trump tries to sanewash it by saying that these are “Democrat activists” or that George Soros is footing the bill for people to show up and agitate but that’s nonsense. These are people who are living in deep red states like Wyoming and Utah and they are pissed with a capital P. They’re also Republicans. And you put those two elements together they spell Democratic wave in 2026.
In-person townhalls are not what they used to be. In fact, Rep. Richard Hudson, of North Carolina, who chairs the National Republican Congressional Committee — the House GOP’s campaign arm — told members of his caucus in a closed-door meeting to stop holding in-person town halls, Politico reported.
People within and outside of the auditorium submitted over 500 questions for the representatives. The top words, aside from “Utah,” were “Trump,” “DOGE” and “President.”
The first question asked, because it received over 200 thumbs up from attendees, came from Brigham Young University professor Peter Reschke: “If the current administration continues to defy court orders, will you commit to call for articles of impeachment to protect our republic’s checks and balances?”
“I don’t think we need to impeach the president,” Maloy said, and explained she’s expressed a desire for more checks on the executive branch and believes lawmakers and the courts can do that. “I just think we need to watch the process play out.”
Members of the audience met that remark with outcries: “He’s breaking the law now!” and “Will you commit to articles of impeachment?”
“If you want me to answer questions, I’ll answer questions. If you want to yell, you can yell, but we can’t do both at the same time,” Maloy said.
“People are extremely angry!” a woman in the audience responded.
Kennedy interjected, saying, “Can we have law enforcement come up?” and asked that police begin escorting disruptive attendees out of the auditorium — although none were removed.
I think calling the cops to throw out your own constituents is not such a hot idea. But it does fit in with the overall Republican attitude of being holier than thou, when in fact both these congressmembers are elected by the people and serve at the will of the people. This is a fact often forgotten when members of Congress act inappropriately. Although look at how Lauren Boebert disgraced herself and she got reelected so go figure. No wonder they have God complexes.
But God complex or no, the handwriting is on the wall. Regular people are worried about changes or cuts to important programs. They’re worried about what information Elon Musk has about them and whether he should have it. They’re worried about whether their kids will get educated or whether their parents and grandparents will have their Medicare and Social Security tampered with. And as the woman cried out, they “are extremely angry.” And this unprecedented behavior is happening two months and two days into this madcap regime. Word to the wise.
Now is the time to pull this administration out of the nosedive it’s in, but I wouldn’t count on it. Both chambers of Congress are terrified of Trump. But, on the other hand, they’re more terrified about getting primaried or voted out. That’s called being between a rock and a hard place and that’s exactly where a second Trump term has put this country. This is only the beginning.

Zoomers, if there is any loose change between your couch cushions, we can use it. We’re in the fifth month of down traffic. We’re determined to survive. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Ursula

On March 15, 1939, Adolf Hitler invaded the remainder of Czechoslovakia after assuring onlooking nations that his annexation of the Sudetenland, which was approved by other interested countries in the Munich Agreement, to which the Czech leaders were not allowed to participate in, ( sound familiar Ukraine???], was the end of his expansionistic plans
There was a plan by German business and the Wehrmacht (Army)to eliminate Hitler, through any means necessary if there were reprisals from other nations for the invasion.
None of the signers of the Munich agreement had the courage to stand up to Hitler and the planned coup was cancelled…..(how can you depose a leader who had pulled off such a grand feat without military intervention?), so the conspirators gave up their plans.
September 1, 1939 Hitler invaded Poland plunging the world into WWII.
…..but then it was too late. The damage was done. Because no one, within or outside of Germany, had the guts to stand up to or depose Hitler, 20 million people, mostly civilians, died.
We are again at that crossroads now……Trump must be stopped and deposed now before he collects too much power and is in effect, unstoppable.
Unfortunately, no one on either side of the aisle or in the judiciary has the cajones to put an end to this reign of terror by this tin plated despot…..and the people will suffer the consequences of repeating history, because none remembered it.
Very true.
These evil bastards took the NRA blood money, and put 400 MILLION guns on the street, 25% of them military mass murdering weapons, with no real screenings. With the recent CEO being gunned down in broad daylight, maybe they should worry more about their pissed off base than future primaries. We depressed Democrats aren’t the ones with the weapons. We didn’t storm the capital injuring 140 police, busting windows, shitting on the floor, or calling for Pence to be hanged on the spot. Siegfried and Roy had trained Bengal tigers in their dog and pony Vegas show…until they turned on them. All of their offices and home locations aren’t hard to find. Gang members shoot up each other’s houses all the time…usually for a perceived grievance. Take away Medicaid when 63% of the residents in nursing homes use it for payment. Take away 72 million folks social security, (mine pays the rent), along with the 11 million on disability…well that’s a shitload of angry people…some with limited time left to be alive. That, along with the plethora of other nazi shit, and their indifference, given THEIR bank accounts…it might send us into a real civil war…and not a war of words. Hey you phucking nazi traitors…if you get your asses shot up like all the school children…I will offer you my thoughts and prayers. In the south you learn early not to poke a snake…you WILL GET BIT! So…go on down there general Custer,(gop)…there are millions of Indians down in the coulee…and they aren’t all unarmed first graders. Some wear Maga hats and have trained themselves in weaponry. Just saying your fear is misplaced.
I want to see the look on their faces when thousands of protesters are marching up Pennsylvania ave with their AKs fully loaded.
They always forget we greatly outnumber them and we have guns too. Lots of them.
Utah voters keep voting for Mike Lee who is totally nuts. Think before you vote for the GOP Utans. Kamala would never have done what Trump and GOP are doing. You FAFO now didn’t you. Democrats don’t so crap like the GOP do. Of course most Mormons who are mainly white, won’t vote for a POC. It’s your loss suckers.
Another white supremacist cult. Southpart did an episode on the Mormons…the chorus was dumb dumb dumb…after every review of their paradigm.
Good. Now we need a lot more Republicans demanding their representatives stand up to.Trump and impeach his fat butt.
