Man, Trumpty woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. He is in Biden lash out mode. And I believe I know why. It’s because things are not going so well for him in the polling department. He did not end the war in Ukraine. He did not drag down grocery and gas prices to the basement, as he also promised would happen immediately upon his election. As to the border, very little has happened there except for performative theater. We do know that 200 Venezualans got removed from the country. Whether they did anything illegal, who knows? Due process is a concept only, in this administration. Here’s Trump’s latest acting out.
You want to know what’s ridiculous? Barron Trump driving to school in a caravan of vehicles with all kinds of Secret Service people tied up in the endeavor of getting one person to a classroom and back. Why can’t Barron just live on campus like a normal kid (and like Chelsea Clinton did when she was at Stanford?) You want to cut fraud and waste, start at home, Donald.
If Trump wants to end Secret Service protection for adult children of presidents, fine. Let’s start with Barron. Trump and Melania have plenty of money, they can afford private security for Barron. Let’s see them do it. Or, let’s have an audit and figure out how much the circus caravan across Manhattan costs and see if it wouldn’t be cheaper to have Barron on campus. That could work.
But the point, as always, is spectacle and going as low as you can go. It’s not surprising that Trump did this. The surprise would be if he evened the score and stopped paying for Barron. Barron is past 16.
And here’s another way Trump could even the score. He gave six months extra Secret Service protection to Jared and Ivanka. after he left the White House. How about reimbursing that money?
Better yet, how about reimbursing all the money that it takes to protect Trump during his golf outings, which are numerous? Let’s start there. That’s a very good place to begin.
But as always in Trump world, when he does something crazy it’s to distract from something else. The Ukraine/Russia settlement, assuming that there will be one, is likely to be ugly. Trump wants to deflect away from that as much as possible.

My mind jumped to the taxpayer money spent on Trump’s adult children – especially Junior with all his “hunting” trip to Africa and other exotic locales. As for Barron he’s the son of a sitting President so there’s no question he should get Secret Service Protection. However as you say it would be cheaper and easier if he lived on campus instead of the daily motorcades across town. On the other hand not living with mommy in Trump Tower would mean them not being able to indulge in a real-life Oedipus fetish. (I know – eeewww! But for anyone who read this comment tell me you haven’t wondered about Barron and Melania. SHE fucked Barron’s dad. For money. And stayed with him for a hefty price, and when he got his ass beat and she could have gotten out she negotiated a new deal with Trumpty instead of finding herself some boy-toy/man up in NYC or perhaps overseas and fading from view. Instead she’s hovering over Barron, so again one has to wonder)
