Malice, machismo and mush, in equal measure, jam the mental circuits of the *president* of this country, who will be 79 in less than 90 days. People age differently, yes, and this one is not aging well. Mentally and physically he’s a wreck — but nobody is supposed to say that. His cult and his coterie of sycophants all demand that he be regarded as an Amazing Being who can do no wrong. He disrespects our institutions and trashes our norms the way other people breath. Today he stood in front of the Department Of Justice logo and called his opponents “corrupt,” “deranged” “scum.” The usual, in other words. We will chronicle it, not because it’s “news” per se, but it is one more episode leading to the eventual crack up of either Trump himself, America, or both, and worth noting the way you would follow a tropical storm which most certainly is going to mass into a destructive hurricane before it hits land.

The NYT characterized his hourlong speech as an “acid recitation of grievances against his enemies.”

Mr. Trump veered from his prepared remarks to lash out at lawyers and former prosecutors by name in a venue dedicated to the impartial administration of justice. He also accused the department’s previous leadership of trying to destroy him and declared former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. the head of a “crime” family.

“Scum,” Mr. Trump called his adversaries, in the same room where Attorney General Robert Jackson delivered a tone-setting 1940 speech urging prosecutors be animated by “fair play” rather than a blind drive to win…

He implored his political appointees at the department not to “be deflected” by critics in enforcing his agenda. He also suggested he was preparing new executive actions to personally target the “violent vicious lawyers” who had prosecuted him or opposed his policies in court.

And, because this is Trump, it became deeply weird, as he compared the attacks against him to those faced “the great Alphonse Capone, the legendary Scarface.”

CNN analyst Elie Honig noted that Trump spoke in DOJ’s Great Hall, where previous attorneys general had committed themselves to the rule of law.

Now, today, by contrast, we have Donald Trump calling prosecutors “Marxist,” “scum,” “savages,” and “thugs.” We have a five-minute speech on Bobby Knight and Indiana basketball. We have talk about the price of eggs and bacon. We have stuff about Hunter Biden’s laptop. We have a riff about Norm Eisen. Why? I have no idea. We have the fact that firefighters– the “fact,” probably not a fact, but the claim that firefighters voted for him by 94%. We have mentions of Al Capone, Wyatt Earp, Rudy Giuliani.

And then it ends with, I actually thought I was hearing something wrong. Y.M.C.A., that song. They played it, and he danced to it on the stage of the Great Hall. It was disgraceful.

I know you’re depressed and at the risk of giving your depression a depression, think of what the younger generation is learning from all this. We have ONE hope and one hope only: and that is that younger people will see Trump as a Crazy Old Man and not pay that much attention to him.

Older generations never had this. I was in grade school when John F. Kennedy was talking about the aspirations of the 60’s, how we were going to go to the moon, how anything was possible. Kennedy, too, promised a Golden Age, but it wasn’t built on destroying any group or class of people. It was built upon what Abe Lincoln talked about, the better angels of our nature, rising to the potential that we, as a nation, had but had not fully tapped into.

And any president which followed Kennedy spoke aspirationally and positively. Nobody before Trump has taken to any podium to vent personal grievances and call everybody names and threaten them. But this is what kids are learning. The president is, after all, the icon of America, the guy (so far it’s only been a guy) who’s in the White House. This person speaks to who we are as a nation — except in this case, Trump truly speaks only to a portion of what was a tiny plurality that decided to play Russian roulette with him again. This is what that looks like.

He implored his political appointees at the department not to “be deflected” by critics in enforcing his agenda. He also suggested he was preparing new executive actions to personally target the “violent vicious lawyers” who had prosecuted him or opposed his policies in court.

“We’re turning the page on four long years of corruption, weaponization and surrender to violent criminals, and we’re restoring fair, equal and impartial justice,” Mr. Trump said, standing at a lectern flanked by signs reading “fighting fentanyl.” Though he repeatedly railed against corruption, his Justice Department recently moved to dismiss a case against New York’s mayor and has drafted plans to shrink an anti-corruption unit.

As he assailed the investigations into him, Mr. Trump also heaped praise on Aileen M. Cannon, the federal judge in Florida who dismissed the criminal charges against him over the handling of classified documents, calling her “the absolute model of what a judge should be.”

If that isn’t a dystopian vision, the benches all filled with judges who are clones of Aileen Cannon, I don’t want to know what a dystopian vision is.

  1. 🤨 Move along, Ursula, nothing to see here! Every threat made was fine because he took the time to anoint himself “the chief law enforcement officer in our country.”

🤔 I wonder, though, if Pam “Blondi” has figured out yet that graft and corruption, especially when driven by a psychopath, just doesn’t pay off the way she hoped it would. More than a decade ago, she asked for Sphincter Face’s help with a campaign to remain Florida AG. And she got it; $25K worth! All she had to do was completely ignore what his “university” had done to people in her state! She denied her own corruption. She denied, nationwide, that her benefactor lost his Presidency fair and square. And the really tough denial…that it didn’t bother her to be second choice to loathsome Matt Gaetz as AG!
But now, after all her silence and denials and smiling Stepford-wife support for Sphincter; after all that she’s done for that measly corrupt $25K; she finally got her big prize…AGUS!! And yet, wait, whuh? She doesn’t really have the job? The Big Sphincter said HE is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the United States! Where does that leave her? Deputy Sphincter? Just a token? A really dumb blonde?! 👱‍♀️🤪She’s now a poster blonde girl for “Crime Just Doesn’t Pay…Enough!!” 🤨🥁 Da dum tiss! 🤣🤣

  2. He has far more in common with the Clantons,,a bunch of cowboybooted thugs, than with Earps. Wyatt would have taken him down with a single shot, and Trump likely can’t hit the broad side of a barn with a machine gun or a cannon. His hellspawn can only take down ananimal.if it’s been raised not to fear humans or driven toward them. Cowards just like Daddy Dearest.

  3. What is the deal with trump and the song Y.M.C.A.? Hasn’t anyone got the nerve to tell him its a song about gay men being sung by yes gay men? Its so weird the way they talk about gay people yet embrace tgis song. And then he takes it to new heights by doing his version of the Elaine Dance. The guy has completely lost his grasp on reality

  4. They do have sonethings in common with the Earps. They were at times pimps and trumps grandfather who was said to have been kucked out of Germany was a pimp in thus country
