During his loooooong address to Congress last night Trump mentioned several times how much just loves police. And each time my mind immediately flashed to the images I saw of the insurrectionist mob HE incited and aimed at the Capitol to stop the counting of Electoral Votes attacked Capitol Police (and others) defending our Capitol. Using clubs, flagpoles, bear spray and equipment (like riot shields) they’d taken from LE they’d knocked down and beaten. Over a hundred fifty wound up in the hospital due to their injuries. Some died in the days and weeks after, either succumbing to injury or by their own hand due to the trauma. Trump pardoned EVERY SINGLE insurrectionist CONVICTED FELON of the Jan. 6 attack shortly after being sworn in!
So spare me for thinking if Trump was going to spout THAT kind of crap it would have been nice for Democrats to have pictures of wounded and dead Capitol Police to hold up for the cameras. I also couldn’t help but think of the relentless effort to FIRE every member of the FBI (who were simply carrying out assigned duties) and prosecutors who investigated January 6. Loves cops? I call bullshit, Bullshit BULLSHIT! I assumed there would be some reaction and as this short article from CNBC shows it’s started. I’m sure there will be more to come but still it’s nice to see some folks speaking up. If only we had journalists in the WH Press Corps willing to confront Trump with questions like: “You said you love the police. So why did you pardon Jan. 6 rioters who pled guilty to or were convicted of attacking police defending the Capitol? And why are you firing those assigned to investigate and prosecute them?”
Ok, so that’s one wild-assed fantasy but hey, for sixty years I dreamed of seeing my Cubbies play a World Series game in Wrigley Field (I didn’t dare hope for them to win – gotta be reasonable) and damn if I didn’t see it happen. Impossible dreams can come true it turns out. Of course, given that just after we got Trump ‘elected’ President I’ve feared that was the payback for having my once #1 fantasy come true. But I digress. I won’t even hope Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will be confronted with the question I’ve posed but we can at least hope the pundit class with take it up for the rest of the week.

Dunn testified before Congress and the J6 Committee. He’s appeared on TV multiple times to maintain public awareness of what he and his fellow officers went through. The injuries. The deaths. The ongoing mental trauma so many of them still struggle with. Others included elected Democrats joined Dunn with tweets last night:
Rep. Madeleine Dean, in her own tweet on Tuesday night, wrote, “Less than 24 hours after taking office, Donald Trump pardoned the violent criminals who attacked our Capitol on January 6.”
“This isn’t fair, equal, and impartial justice,” wrote Dean, a Pennsylvania Democrat. “It’s complete disrespect for the rule of law and the police and first responders who keep us safe.”
Remember I mentioned Trump also going after the FBI and prosecutors? Fortunately there are those who have their backs as well. For example:
And Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., called out Trump, writing on X, “Purging hundreds of FBI and DOJ agents who investigated the Jan 6 insurrection — career law enforcement officers, not political appointees — does not make us safer, more secure, or prosperous.”
But Trump says he loves LE. What he doesn’t of course say is he will NEVER forgive those who did and will continue to do their duty. To uphold the law and the Oath they took, even if it means Trump, the self-professed ‘Master Of Us All’ doesn’t like them doing so. Forgiveness is reserved for those who would beat and kill cops for daring to protect Congress’ ability to ensure the peaceful transfer of power FROM Trumpty-Dumpty.
For myself, I stand with Officer Dunn and say F**K YOU TRUMP!

Trump loves the appearance of ‘liking’ law enforcement, because it pleases his base and gets him votes.
But he loves ACTUAL lawlessness much more, he can act as he wishes without any bad consequences.
And now as president he gets to BE the law, He has immunity from (happily undefined) ‘official actions’, and the power of legal pardon, and as a bonus he gets to pick who enforces the law or not.
It’s a ‘win-win’ for him.
And lose-lose for everyone else.
If those F.B.I. agents had refused orders to investigate, they could have been legitimately fired. I wonder how he’ll.handle it if a handful refuse to obey an illegal.order from.his thugness via Bimbo.Bondi..
