Everyone has long understood that President Donald Trump sees Russia differently. Whereas Trump will openly and aggressively antagonize the leader of our best friend on this globe, Canada, he will not say a hostile word about Vladimir Putin, the man with more nuclear missiles aimed at the United States and NATO than every other country combined, the country that was on the very edge of using those tactical nukes in Ukraine itself in March of 2022, the country that made Europe more dangerous overnight by twice invading its neighbor in Ukraine, once in 2014 in the Crimea, and once during the Biden administration, unprovoked. Whether Russia actually holds something over Trump or whether Putin just intimidates Trump into a position of servitude no longer matters – at least not to me, I’d rather focus on what he does, not why, and as the Russians push for an end to the war in Ukraine, it is obvious that the new American administration is willing to play the Kremlin’s friend and minister of propaganda, as Trump just told one of the biggest lies of the war on behalf of Putin.
I have reporting from Grok itself, Musk’s AI endeavor, which is surprisingly critical of Musk and Trump when asked the right question. Unlike some, Grok doesn’t lie and brings about a full answer. Given it comes from my X.ai account, I cannot link it but I am pretty sure that you know me well enough to trust the quote:
Trump has echoed talking points from the Kremlin by stating that Ukraine “started the war,” and calling President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “dictator.” He suggested that Zelenskyy should “move fast” to negotiate peace, or he won’t have a country left. These comments have been widely criticized for aligning with Russian propaganda and undermining the narrative that Russia invaded Ukraine unprovoked.
Only Russia (And thus now only the United States) would say that Ukraine is under some kind of duty to bring about peace in their country. Of course, Russia invaded Ukraine unprovoked, of course Ukraine has fought valiantly and largely kept Russia out of those centers that would allow control of the nation, and would be considered as “winning” the war in total, and yet it is Ukraine’s duty to make peace fast?
I may be the only one to think this (No, I am not) but Trump probably should be careful here. The E.U. understands the threat that Putin poses, they understand that they are the ones next in line (Particularly Poland, a modern nation wanting to avoid Russia at all costs, and willing to fight to keep itself in the West), and the E.U. wants to keep NATO as strong as possible, it is the E.U. that might well send troops if absolutely necessary to ensure that Ukraine can assert its will against Russia. American backing of Russian talking points makes it that much more likely that Europe will find itself compelled to jump in on Ukraine’s behalf, specifically because the onus shouldn’t be on Ukraine to bring about terms by which both countries walk away. Trump best be careful. American influence is waning as he gets more “out there” and against Western nations that refuse to let go of their modern Western liberalism as expressed in democracy.
So there it is, compliments of Grok itself, fully understanding that his is an easily recognized lie and there is only one motivating factor in telling it – to please Putin. As to why he must please Putin, I simply don’t care. It is a fact, it is reality, the consequences are easily predictable, and the U.S. must deal with it somehow. It really no longer matters why Trump is in this position. No one would care anymore anyway how he was beholden, even if it was shocking. Sad. Because the result is the same no matter what it might be, even if Trump is just a Putin Fanboy.

When Trump actually gets to meet his hero dictators, he’s like the stupid dog who finally catches a car: he suddenly realises the real danger he’s put himself in. Real criminals like Putin and Kim know just how to handle wannabe villains: flatter them but then scare the shit out of them too. Trump ends up like the dog, but his version of licking the bumper in terror is kissing ass and following orders.
I have seen virtually no comment at all on why it is that Ukraine was invaded and why the USA is involved.
After the Soviet Union’s dissolution in 1991, Ukraine became the third largest nuclear power in the world and held about one third of the former Soviet nuclear weapons, delivery system, and significant knowledge of its design and production. While all these weapons were located on Ukrainian territory, they were not under Ukraine’s control. In 1994, Ukraine agreed to transfer these weapons to Russia and became a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, On December 5, 1994 the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, United Kingdom, and the United States signed a memorandum, in Budapest, to provide Ukraine with security assurances in connection with its accession to the NPT as a non-nuclear weapon state.in exchange for assurances from Russia, the United States and United Kingdom to respect the Ukrainian independence and sovereignty in the existing borders. Years later, Russia, one of the parties to the agreement, invaded Ukraine, and the USA and Britain did nothing to Ukraine despite the assurances they had SIGNED saying they would.
No wonder the Russians thought they could get away with invading the rest of Ukraine, no-one did anything to stop their invasion of Donbas and Crimea.
In April 2023, former US president Bill Clinton expressed regret at pressuring Ukraine to give up nuclear weapons, in light of the 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine and escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War from 2022.
So the scene is set for a completely untrustworthy, compulsively lying, convicted criminal US President to come in and make further ‘promises’ to ‘end the conflict’.
No wonder the rest of the world no longer sees any ‘agreement’ with America to be even worth the paper it’s written on.
