Some people are trying their best against tRump and Muskrat.
This is 50501 – 50 states, 50 protests, one day. Many people were out at these protests. Many people felt this was important enough to come out. They are protesting against the President and unelected Co-President and Cabinet. They are protesting to save democracy. Whether or not these actually produce results is unlikely, but they want their democracy back and they are telling us, and only possibly Congress and the White House will hear us, but they are telling us anyhow.
I wish I’d known about this because I would have gone out. Our country is so important and we don’t want to see it destroyed. Muskrat is chopping jobs everywhere, with a couple of times being VERY BAD that he did. As an example, we need our nuclear people. And we could need others but we don’t yet know what else is being closed down beyond what is printed in the news. We still need some of them. They are hacking away at the Consumer Protection team. They are trying to get into IRS files. They are hacking away across the spectrum.
Congress is sitting on their hands and watching it happen. The Republicans are doing NOTHING because they’re too afraid of the Confused Carrot. They have become weak and ineffectual. They have passed people into tRump’s Cabinet who really had no place *being* there, hello Tulsi and Pete and Kristi and RFK Jr. They are practically worthless and they are supposed to be the third branch of governing? They handle the money. Except they don’t. They do nothing and the Democrats are in the minority so their hands are tied. They can only count on one Republican to join them and that’s not enough.
“That scares me and concerns me, and I feel like people need to come out and say that’s wrong and stand up for democracy.” Indeed, we do. Movements have started before from grassroots beginnings. We need to tell people that what they are doing is WRONG. We need to tell people to stand up for the Constitution. We need to keep organizing against the policies and actions of the second tRump administration. Remember all those people who got confirmed? Remember Muskrat hacking and slicing and chopping? That’s not our country. Our country has guard rails to balance everything between SCOTUS, the executive branch, and Congress. Right now, the executive branch doesn’t give a damn about the other two.
Retired Maryland schoolteacher Yvonne Baicich, a daughter of Holocaust survivors, described this political moment as a horror story. Baicich came to America at 11 years old because of her family’s belief in democracy and says she’s been fighting to uphold this system of government ever since. “We’ve had problems, of course, but we were lulled into the idea that somehow the Constitution was going to save us and that a takeover like this was not possible, and here we are,” she told CNN. I don’t know how many people remember the Holocaust, and how many think it was a fake these days, dammit. Could we be heading that way? We’re already gathering up illegal immigrants and shipping them to Guantanamo, of all places. That feels eerily like the work camps of Hitler’s making.
We need to fight for our country and do it NOW. We need Congress to step up to the plate. We need SCOTUS to slap down his executive orders, although that’s unlikely considering the supermajority the Mango Mandarin owns. Could someone speak before Congress? Maybe. It will take a lot to get there but we can’t give up. We *won’t* give up. Fight for your country!

Friends, I am forced to self-promote and ask you for money. We had a bad year compared with 2023 and the end of the year has been catastrophic. Traffic died on November 5. We are a small blog and completely self-supporting by ad revenue, donations, and subscriptions. If you can afford a monthly subscription that would help us out. If you can make a small donation, likewise. Our only goal is to stay in business and give you the best content we can generate. You are the wind beneath our wings. Thank you. Tooo right, Susan! The people are exerting our power and it is incredibly important! Yesterday, James Carville (I don’t like him and I don’t trust his politics) said something that might be helpful…for a short time. Carville told Dems in Congress to “wait and do nothing for now.” He says that Congress should let the people flex and build their voices. Congress critters trying to lead or direct the movement at this moment could stop the growth and that would be devastating! 🤔
I wish I had known about it so I could go. Cane or no cane, this was incredibly important. We have a right to be heard for the future of our country, which is currently looking bleak if we look into the future. Congress isn’t doing anything anyhow, so we can build our forces unfettered. Let’s just hope we can construct it well enough that someone *has* to listen.
