No, no the DOJ is being weaponized FOR me – sort of.
They finally found a prosecutor who was willing to ask the DOJ to drop the Eric Adams (NYC) mayor under investigation for a corruption case. This is after 7 resigned in protest. The whole reason for doing so was so that he could help with the immigration crackdowns. Does that not sound like something the Mango Mandarin would have done? It’s fine when HE does it but not fine when it’s done to him. What’s wrong with this picture?
It’s just another way that tRump is insinuating himself into all sorts of places to get what he wants to be done. He tries to skate things in just barely over the level into legal. I’ve been following this for a couple of days now, with all the prosecutors who have resigned in protest. Apparently, it was a pretty overwhelming case *against* Adams, but DonOld wants him free to “help” and that’s what he gets, even if it takes some time. And NYC is a sanctuary city, too. Well, I’ll bet we can also guess what’s going to happen to that.
“The dispute culminated in a meeting Friday morning, during which Acting Deputy Attorney Emil Bove told all remaining prosecutors in the Justice Department’s public integrity unit to find one career lawyer to file the dismissal, CNN reported. The attorneys huddled afterwards, sources told CNN, and Ed Sullivan, who is nearing retirement, stepped forward to sign the dismissal — and end the crisis.”
“Late Friday, Bove, along with prosecutors Ed Sullivan and Antoinette Bacon, entered the filing that could end the case after an extraordinary wave of resignations from the Southern District of New York and the Justice Department public integrity section that’s shaken the foundation of a Trump administration that says it wants to end the “weaponization” of the DOJ.” We all knew he would weaponize it the same way he claimed it was weaponized “against him”. And by the way there is a lot more to this case I didn’t cover because space.
I know what I think about this and that’s easy – it’s sheer bullshit. The order came down from way, way up above, and was going to happen one way or another. Well, it happened, and the DOJ lost 7 good attorneys from it. I hope they find new positions elsewhere to make up for resigning. This annoys me. It shouldn’t have happened. But it did and Eric Adams is breathing a huge sigh of relief. If I remember correctly, they had him dead to rights in this case so he had a lot to worry about. Now he just has to worry about emerging unscathed from doing what tRump wants. Of course, it won’t *specifically* be him, but I’m sure ICE already knows his name and is arranging to meet with him.
Sanctuary city, my ass. Not anymore. I’m betting there are now NYC quotas, just like there were Chicago quotas. Now there’s not exactly an easy place to hold them, and finding them is going to be its own special challenge. Yeah, I lived there for a couple of years so I have a just a bit of an idea about these things. I can’t really think of anywhere to hold a large number and then there’s the problem of getting them to the airport to either be returned to their home countries or sent to Guantanamo. We already have migrants there and I’m sure there is a lot more to come. This is such an over-the-top, ridiculous, out-of-control mess.
