Every time this man opens his mouth, it gets more and more obvious that he has no idea what he’s doing.
We are throwing Ukraine under the bus. Let’s start with a bit from the first article I found. In his first outing to the Ukraine Defense Contract Group, he is expected to push the EU and NATO to take care of Europe and Ukraine. Well, we can already see where that’s heading. And it’s not in a good direction.
Hegseth calls Ukraine’s peace goals unrealistic. Well, I would bet they’re saying hell no, we’re not turning ourselves over to Russia! They have fought long and hard for years to be independent. If they wanted to be part of Russia they would have rolled over on Day 1 of the attack. But they didn’t and they won’t. I could *maybe* see giving up the parts that Russia annexed many years ago, but the whole country? I think not! How can that be unrealistic? If we were invaded, do you think *we* would roll over?
And here we are into ass-hole-ery. Hegseth rules out NATO membership for Ukraine (what the f*ck) and says Europe must be responsible for their security. Well, that seems to me it’s exactly what we thought was going to happen. The US isn’t going to support Ukraine anymore and that’s some bullsh*t. We have been staunch advocates for their right to remain free, for them to be their own country and not a division of Russia. Yea, that would be throwing them under the bus. For all we’ve done, it’s apparently too much, and now tRump doesn’t want to be beholden and bothered with something so important to the free world.
But there is one very small good thing. “So wrong and so scary!’ Hegseth battered for ‘faux-alpha-male bluster’ NATO speech”. Well, finally someone noticed! Those who watched the press conference say they’re embarrassed to be Americans and I agree – I am too! And that’s not just for Hegseth, it’s for all the crap that is going on in our country! He’s going to block NATO membership. He says it’s unrealistic for Ukraine to return to pre-2014 borders. Excuse me? Unrealistic? No, it isn’t. Ukraine is not Russia. Ukraine is not *part* of Russia. Here is the full quote: “Hegseth is the perfect avatar for Trumpist foreign policy: All about faux-alpha-male bluster and constant assertions of aggressive dominance, all based on the idea that there are no rules or values, there is only power, and the biggest privilege of the powerful is to bully the rest”.
Really? Yea, really, that’s a perfect description of him for what he’s trying to do and messing up in a grand fashion. The Republicans *had* to approve him. They couldn’t go against the Mango Mandarin. And now we are even more of a laughingstock for the world. We are rapidly going downhill from what we used to be – the *leader* of the world. We are only thinking about ourselves and how what we do will increase our power. We don’t care about what is right. We are only a few weeks into this government. Each day brings a new bit of stupidity. I wonder what will happen tomorrow, and I dread it.
