Smith Report Released. Get A Copy While You Can

What’s going on in my life that has me up at weird hours isn’t important. What matters is earlier in the evening before I crashed I was hoping that at the stroke of midnight two things would be true. First was that Trumpty and his lawyers would have found a court, not even SCOTUS to step in and delay release of Volume 1 of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s report. Number two was that the SECOND the clock hit midnight someone at DOJ would be sitting at the computer with their finger poised over the Enter button to send that report out all over the internet!

Well, I found myself wide awake and knowing it might be anywhere from a half-hour to a couple of hours before I could get some sleep I checked online.  It took a bit of searching to find an article that had an actual freaking link to the report. Gee, one might think major news outlets are AFRAID to boldly say “Here you go folks” and make it easy. Well, after checking multiple outlets I found this article from Time. It contains a link to Jack Smith’s report – Volume 1 at least. It covers the DC case which is now over. Volume 2 covers the Florida case and although Trump charges have been dropped things are still active with two of his co-defendants. Plus there’s the appeal pending with the 11th Circuit about Cannon’s ridiculous ruling Smith’s appointment was unconstitutional.

The point is that so much would have had to be redacted as to ensure the rights of the remaining defendants it wouldn’t be worth much. For now at least. I have a thought about that I’ll get to.  In the meantime Volume 1 covering the DC case is now out. I wonder if they put Trumpty in a straightjacket and stuck a ball-gag in his mouth to keep him from rage tweeting or running his mouth in his TV studio at Mar a Lago.  Oh, he’ll try to do something to counter what’s in the report. He will also try to have it scrubbed from the internet. Good luck with that, especially if we all do our part. For starters spread the link far and wide. I tried to include just the link but can’t get it to copy properly. You’ll have to go to the time article. A few sentences into the first paragraph it’s highlighted.  Once open you can bookmark it.

Now, as soon as he’s in office Trumpty will ORDER whomever is in charge over at DOJ to remove it all from the website. That’s a given. He can and surely will set Muskrat, Zuck and other ‘tech bros’ about the task of scrubbing it from the internet entirely. Good luck with that a-holes.  I supposed they CAN have their teams write algorithms to search for the link and or the report and delete the posts, even ban those who try to circulate it.  Well, I had a bit of an issue figuring out how but I managed to save it as a PDF file on my computer.

Even if Trump’s minions make it like a quest for the Holy Grail to find the thing online it doesn’t matter. I’ve got my very own copy where THEY can’t do a f**king thing about it.  I suggest you do the same.  My apologies. I’ve tried to copy and paste the file from my desktop screen into this and can’t seem to figure that out either. But I beg you, if you’re reading this as soon as you can download the PDF to your own computer or device.  From there you can share it whenever you wish.

As for Volume 2 I have an idea if someone from Lincoln Project or other larger (and connected) entity reads this.  DOJ should create and release an ENCRYPTED version of Volume 2.  Then take steps to ensure DOJ can’t erase it from their files. Ok, this will be Trump’s DOJ again and he might well order his new AG (Bondi) to flout the law and destroy ALL Of Smith’s work. There have to be at least some older folks at DOJ ready to retire who can simply copy it all onto flash drives. And the encryption key for Volume 2 on separate ones.  Make enough copies that they are squirrelled away in nooks and crannies of desks, bookcases etc. all over DOJ. In safes, perhaps tucked inside other stuff.  Someday there will be people who know where to look for and find them. And some could be taken out of the building and put in safety deposit boxes.

Preserving the TRUTH is something a Democratic President someday would be well justified in pardoning.  Let the GOP howl. I don’t care and neither should you. But the report and supporting documentation has to be preserved in the first place to ensure that no matter what Trumpty orders someday it will be available to the public.

I don’t know what the reaction will be in either DC  or down in Florida when the sun comes up but I think we will be in for quite a day. A lot of bleary eyed pundits will have spent a good chunk of this night skimming through Volume 1 and making notes.  However once again I implore you to take your own steps to preserve this. Don’t just download the link or save it to your Favorites. Download the actual PDF file to your computer because come January 20 that link will either disappear or become next to impossible to find.  IF tens of millions of us preserve our own copies then the truth will always be there to be shared.
