Five Tariffs, Six Tariffs, Seven Tariffs, More? You see, the Bronze God *cough* was promising to slap tariffs on imports, all imports, because he felt the companies were jacking up the prices too much, and this would make them pay. Except it won’t. It will get passed on straight to the consumer, the people he *promised* he would bring prices down. How many of us knew that wouldn’t happen, both in his promises and then adding tariffs in? I know people *wanted* to believe he’d bring prices down. That’s a large part of how he got elected, after all. But lower prices and higher tariffs do the opposite thing. High tariff = high prices, and so many of us KNEW that. People wanted to believe it so badly they voted for him. And thus, the wool was pulled over their eyes, and it comes to “not gonna happen”. Not unless a whole bunch of things happen, and it’s nearly impossible that they would all happen at once. Sorry, y’all, you were duped. And that’s horrible to see (along with a little bit of “We told ya so”).

But back to tariffs. He had said he was going to slap universal tariffs of up to 20 percent on all goods imported for the US. But, then he was warned that American consumers would immediately feel the pinch at the grocery store. So now it’s on a few specifics on certain sectors deemed critical to national or economic security. A couple examples would be defense industry such as steel and iron, critical medical supplies such as vials and pharmaceutical materials, and energy production such as batteries and rare earths. Okay, I can kinda see us wanting to bring those back to our home country. But can we? Do we have access to companies that can give us those products, and more? I don’t have a yes or no answer for that. There probably isn’t one.

Nowwwwww here’s the stupid part. He is threatening Mexico and Canada with a 25% tariff if they don’t stop the flow of drugs and migrants into the US. Firstly, Canada doesn’t HAVE that happening. They had double digit drugs/people caught at their border. And for as long as our mutual border is, that’s *all*. So, a Canada tariff is just stupid. You can’t stop something that doesn’t happen. Okay, now, to Mexico. The drugs and migrants are *never* going to STOP. They’ll slow down, like they did under President Biden (maybe keep slowing, if tRump doesn’t kneecap himself) but they’ll never completely stop. Plus, drugs come into the US a lot of different ways than Mexico and he seems to forget that. Now, I *think* Mexico is working with the administration to HELP with this, such as the Wait in Mexico areas, while their requests are being processed. Yet remember, people come from all over South America in hopes of a better life in the US. They dream of it. They walk thousands of miles to come here. “Give me your tired, your poor – your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” But Mexico is handy and easy to see, because it’s *right there*. Okay, stop that which can’t be stopped. Right. And I have a bridge I want to sell you. Name it after yourself (like all the other nonsense) so you have something else “bigly” you can boast about. Eeeuuuuuuurgh. Then you’ll turn it into a business and it will fail like the others.

This man simply has a worldview that can’t admit he’s wrong. Ever. So he huffs and he puffs and he huffs and he puffs, and nothing gets done that ever NEEDS to get done. Remember, he’s going to toss out millions of undocumented immigrants, and probably a lot of documented immigrants, because he just wants to sweep them all away. That’s an interesting bias. Well, okay, one of many biases. But tariffs won’t solve anything, They’ll hurt the country. They’ll slap them on us in return. And regular people will get screwed – people like you and me.

  1. Susan…all well and good. Just remember nothing changes dog pooh into ice cream. Arguments? Facts? History? Nothing reaches a malignant narcissist. NOTHING. I realize it’s hard to hear and accept, but it’s the truth.
